The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in collaboration with the University of Washington is conducting a research study at multiple sites in Kenya.

Due to an increase in number of research projects within the KEMRI / UW Study Project and in order to carry out research more efficiently, the study seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced person to fill the following position:

1. Study Clinical Officer

To be based at KEMRI/UW Homabay Study Site

The Study Clinical Officer will participate in HIV related research and manage study participants. S/he will give palliative, curative and preventive care as may be needed.

S/he will be expected to observe good clinical practice in carrying out duties and work as a team with other staffs.

S/he will be reporting to the Site Coordinator or the Medical Coordinator and should be ready to carry out other duties as delegated by the Site Coordinator.

Responsibilities

As Study Clinical Officer, work with Medical Coordinator to ensure standards and consistency between sites amongst other Site CO.

As Site CO, responsibilities are local and include the following:
Provide medical care for study participantsManagement of incidental illnesses and any side effects.Perform baseline and follow up physical examinationsEnsure patients enrolled meet all inclusion criteriaExclude patients with meeting exclusion criteriaEnsure completed questionnaires are delivered to Data Team within 24 hoursPresent weekly and monthly reports of clinic activitiesAt weekly study meetings, the study CO will present a detailed report of clinical findings. Include all patients enrolled and all excluded patients. Provide detailed information regarding reason for exclusion and plans for follow up.Maintain a chart of initial and follow up visits by clients to track their progress and clinic attendanceCollect laboratory specimens from study participants as neededWork in clinic as needed to collect specimens and ensure their deliveryRecord and manage clinic attendance by clinic staffLiaison with staff working in the clinicCoordinate and initiate activities that improve the conduct of the studyOversee the work in the laboratoryPerform other duties that may be given by the Site CoordinatorRequired Qualifications:
Diploma in Clinical Medicine and SurgeryComputer LiterateThree years experience working in a busy Pediatric clinic or Ward set upThree years experience in Pediatric PhlebotomyGood communication skillsReady to work under pressureBe a team playerTerms of Employment:

Contract for one year, renewable as per KEMRI Scheme of Service.

The successful candidate shall undergo a three (3) months probationary period for the first three months upon initiation of employment.

Physician Mentor

The physician mentor will mentor and train clinicians in HIV/AIDS care

Specific duties

Position: Study Accountant

Supervisor: Director, Research and Programs

Position Summary: The Administrative Accountant reports to the Director Research and Programs and is responsible for assisting with general corporate accounting.

He/she will work to ensure that operational financial transactions are correctly administered and that all vouchers are processed in a timely and efficient manner.

He/she is responsible for compiling the quarterly imprest for submission to the University of Washington Seattle office.

Responsibilities:

Field advance applications from the Seattle office.Financial data entry into Quick Books software.Preparing cashbooks and bank reconciliations.Preparing and submitting monthly financial reports to the immediate supervisor.Preparing monthly cash forecasts and needed funds projections.
