Field Technical Assistant (Horticulture) Job in Kenya




Our Client is in the Horticultural Industry currently recruiting a Field Technical Assistant.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Provides professional advice to farmers on the selection, ordering, planting, culture, and maintenance of crops

  • Training farmers in the proper methods and techniques of planting

  • Trains grounds personnel in the techniques of crop maintenance

  • Assists in preparing acquisitions for various types of plants and seeds.

  • Assists in supervising the processing of accessioning deaccessioning, mapping, relocating, and labeling plants in collection areas.

  • Assists in the preparation of maintenance programs for the control of plant diseases and insects.

  • Assists in preparing fertilizer programs for various types of plants.

  • Performs related duties as required


Education and Experience


  • Graduation from an accredited college or university in a related Agricultural Course.

  • At least 6 months- 3 years’ experience

 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Knowledge of ornamental horticulture in all phases.

  • Knowledge of plant propagation and cultivation.

  • Knowledge of the principles of greenhouse and nursery management.

  • Knowledge of the principles of supervision.

  • Knowledge of the elementary principles of landscaping.

  • Ability to supervise the work of others


Salary: 20,000-30,000
