Media Chief Executive Officer Job in Accra, Ghana

Directly Supervises: Chief Finance & Administration Officer (CFAO), Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Our client is a leading TV Station in Ghana. They are looking to fill the position of a Chief Executive Officer, to be based in Accra – Ghana.
 



 


Job Purpose: To provide leadership and strategic direction in the general management of the company’s operations by driving operational growth and excellence and define and execute strategy across all aspects of the TV operations for the achievement of overall company’s vision.




Major Responsibilities & Accountabilities:


  • Plan, direct and execute all strategy and operating activities by developing a strategic plan for the next five years for the company.

  • Cascade the strategic plan to all divisions/departments in the company.

  • Achieve financial targets set by the Board.

  • Create a cohesive and results-oriented leadership team that works across functions for the common good of the company.

  • Introduce performance management across the company to enhance productivity.

  • Enhance employee engagement and manage the employee relations environment. Also ensure that the labour union is regularly engaged.

  • Creation, leadership and management of a team that drives and supports revenue generation, customer loyalty and to include the development of staff potential.

  • Engage senior level contacts and business partners in government, corporate entities and the media in the region.

  • Lead the team to successfully transition from monologue to digital systems.

  • Collate and prepare annual company budget for approval by the Board of Directors.

  • Full P+L responsibility, ensuring all customer numbers, revenues and targets are achieved.

  • Attend Board Meetings and feed Company Directors with relevant monthly reports on company operations.

  • Present a positive image of the company as a progressive television broadcast station.

  • Responsible for leadership and general management of the Company.

  • Monitors activities of all employees in order to achieve set targets.


Department Relations:


  • Works collaboratively with all Heads of Department and Unit Heads on Finance, Human Resource, Administrative and Corporate Communications and General Services matters.

  • Maintains contact with Chief Internal Auditor.

  • Maintains contact with the Union Executives to ensure regular engagement.


External Relations:


  • Manages relations with key stakeholders in both the public and private sectors e.g. government agencies, auditors, suppliers, consultants etc.

  • Maintain contacts with national and international broadcast networks.


Responsibilities for Assets:
 



Has responsibility for ensuring that all company assets, i.e. infrastructure, television broadcasting equipments, company vehicles, office equipments, human capital, and all other assets are properly cared for.

Skills and Experience required



  • A minimum of a first degree in Business Administration or Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration is a plus.

  • A minimum of ten plus (10+) years of commercial experience in the TV/Broadcast industry with a demonstrated ability to manage all facets of the business.

  • A minimum of 5 years General Management experience in a TV operations environment.

  • Record of success in meeting aggressive targets.

  • Proven and demonstrated experience and expertise in Sales or Business Development.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, influencing, forceful and convincing.

  • Must have proven track record of leading a multi-disciplinary/functional team at a senior management level.

  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to build high performance teams.

  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.

  • Ability to work in deadline-driven, fast paced environment.

  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Effective negotiator.

  • Bold decision making and strong customer focus.

  • Good knowledge of organisational policies, systems and procedures.

  • Proficient ICT Skills.

  • Excellent Presentation Skills.

  • Discrete.
