Procurement Officer
Purpose of the Position: Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the successful candidate will provide support in the procurement activities and ensuring compliance with established company policies and procedures and internationally recognized procurement procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Procurement Manager, compiling and evaluating tenders in line with the laid established procedures.
- Maintaining a database of approved suppliers and continually undertaking market surveys and research to facilitate the update of the approved suppliers list.
- Establish new processes and systems for effective procurement across the company and investigate opportunities for broader savings and reductions in inventory costs.
- Ensuring that staff are well informed of the procurement procedures and that all necessary systems and documentation are available for their use.
- Liaising with all departmental heads in compiling information that facilitates the development of the procurement plan.
- Processing procurement requests as per laid down processes and procedures.
- Produce regular reports on supplier performance and provide comprehensive management information and in-depth analysis when requested including spend analysis, savings secured and potential savings – for forecast and budgets.
- Maintaining inventory and stock control records.
- Receiving goods and certifying invoices.
- Any other duties assigned.
Job Specifications:
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree in Business with a bias in procurement.
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) qualified preferred.
- 3-4 years relevant experience preferably in the manufacturing sector.
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to apply such skills in all situations.
- Flexibility to work in Mombasa and the coastal regions of Kenya.
- Strong influencing skills at senior levels to influence acceptance of a new way of working.
- Excellent team player with excellent people’s skills.
- Ability to negotiate at the highest levels with suppliers.
- Good IT skills to include wide experience of word documents, Excel spread-sheets (Including pivot tables and charts) and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills.
