Key Responsibilities

Typeset, design, insert illustrations and prepare manuscripts for pre-press.Produce back-ups of finished work for future use.Create designs to add aesthetic value to published work and other materials.Process page proofs to produce camera-ready copies.KCSE Grade CDiploma in Graphic Design/ Desktop PublishingProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoshopCreative and ability to work under minimal or no supervision for long hours.Relevant work experience of 2 years.If you meet the above requirements, send your application quoting the reference number on the left-hand corner of the envelop to the address below or email to hr@longhornpublishers.com

Phoenix Publishers Ltd was incorporated in Kenya in 1987 and is owned by a broad base of local shareholders.

The Company is the leading supplier of children’s readers in Kenya and the Eastern Africa region.

It also publishes general books and textbooks.

It has firm linkages with several leading publishers in the rest of East Africa.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board the C.E.O. will be responsible for continuously initiating, reviewing, coordinating, managing and implementing the strategies and operations of the Company to increase sales and profits and add value for the benefit of the stakeholders.

The Person

We are looking for a self-driven team leader of high integrity who is creative, a good communicator and motivator capable of achieving set goals.

He/She will have had a first degree ¡n Publishing, Education, Literature, Language or a Social Science - an M.B.A. will be an added advantage.

He/She will have had at least 5 years experience in a senior management position preferably in the Publishing or Education field and will be familiar with the educational environment and the book trade ¡n Eastern Africa.

Remuneration: This will be negotiated with the selected person.
