Duration: One year, renewable subject to funding and performance

Background: With financial support from USAID, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (MEWNR) through the United Nations Development Program is implementing a project on enhancing capacity for low emission development in Kenya.
Under the supervision of UNDP-Kenya Team Leader for Environment, Energy and Climate Change Unit (EECCU) and the Project Manager, the Programme Analyst will support implementation of the USAID Low Emission and Climate Resilient Development in Kenya project by provision of technical, management, administration support during implementation.
The Programme Analyst will also provide technical coordination for the Key Result Area 4: National and County decision making tools for climate change interventions enhanced.
The Programme Analyst will play a key function of overseeing and sustaining the daily progress for the key result area, as defined in the Project Document, in order to ensure the effective delivery of the works conducted by responsible parties, national and international consultants and experts engaged for various outputs under the component.
Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree or equivalent in natural resource economics or social sciences, environment or a related field.
At least 2 years of relevant and demonstrable experience in the coordination and/or implementation of development projects, at the national or international level, especially focusing on climate change mainstreaming.
Experience in drafting technical reports as well as developing working papers and policy documents on climate change.
Demonstrated understanding of the National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP) process in Kenya.
Experience in the usage of computers, office software packages and web based management systems.
