Agronomist Job in Nairobi, Kenya (75K)

A Global Merchandiser of commodities and processor of agricultural goods, based in Nairobi is seeking to recruit an Agronomist. 

The successful candidate MUST have a minimum of 5 years experience working on a plantation or with a plantation management company.
 

Key Responsibilities;

• Perform crop surveys in East Africa in coordination with coffee platform research.


• Support the set-up of sustainable supply chain.


• Direct sourcing/traceability initiatives and certification of sustainable supply chain.


• Management of agro-technical processes in the cultivation of plants.


• Determine ways of cultivating crops on different plots of land.


• Select and procure the seeds, fertilizers and other materials required for plant growth.


• Manage the exploitation of land resources.


• Prepare laboratory tests for agricultural land and organization.


• Prepare the production plan for the crop plants.

Qualifications;

• MUST have 5 years experience in plantation management.


• MUST have a Bachelors Degree in Agronomy, Plant Sciences or related field.


• A master’s degree will be an added advantage.


• MUST have experience working in East Africa.


• MUST have a minimum of 2 years in senior management.


• Computer literate.


• Ability to work under minimum supervision.


• Good written and spoken English.


• Possess good analytical and observational skills.


• MUST be willing to travel.

Monthly Gross Salary: Ksh. 60,000 – 75,000/= (Approx. 600 – 750 USD)depending on experience
