Librarian 

Scope: The Librarian reports directly to the Principal Tutor and provides librarian and research services.

Purpose of the Position: The Librarian is responsible for providing library and research services for the school and Maintenance of the library and its collections.

Responsibilities

Provide effective access to library collections and resourcesMaintain collections management policies and proceduresPerform original cataloguing and classification of print, audio-visual and electronicresourcesDevelop and maintain special indexing systems and files for special collectionsEnsure an accurate inventory of resourcesEnsure efficient retrieval by usersSearch external database programs for the availability of cataloguing copyMaintain inventories, compile statistics and generate reports as requireDevelop and maintain cataloguing proceduresDistribute materials for cataloguingDetermine the type of cataloguing requiredEnsure file cards in shelf listRespond to daily on-site requests for informationTrain library users to effectively search the Library catalogue, Internet and other electronic resourcesMaintain circulation files, records and statistics

Deputy Principal Tutor

Duties

Duties shall include Management and Administration

Assist the Principal in oversight of all the support staff within the institution.Assist the Principal in oversight of all property including buildings and equipment within the institutionShall assist the principal in ensuring that all financial transactions are carried out procedurally, with transparency and accountability and also for ensuring that fees are collected in a timely fashion.Shall assist the principal in overall training of nurses in the school in accordance with the syllabus of the Nursing Council and approved policies.The short-listing of applicants for training before the final interview and acceptance by a combined panel from St Luke’s & the KEC- Health CommissionAssessment of the progress of the students during their training, in consultation with the tutors and ward sisters.Ensuring a close collaboration with the Matron especially in designing and implementing learning experiences and student appraisal in the clinical area.Ensuring (together with the Tutors) that discipline is upheld among the Students but in the case of referral or discontinuation of a student, the Principal is responsible. If the indiscipline is in the clinical area, include the Nurse in charge of the Hospital. The KEC- Health Commission and the Board of Governors should be informed of all discontinuations and should be consulted before dismissal of student with over two years of training.Prepare for the Principal, for presentation to the Board at every meeting, a report on the academic performance, disciplinary issues and general welfare of the students and staff.The coordination of the students’ activities, internal experience, and external experiences.Ensuring that students get enough experience and exposure in all areas of their training.Ensuring (together with the welfare committee) the welfare of the students in the widest sense of the word: food, boarding, spiritual, recreation, and general welfare.Ensuring the Continuing Education and that of the Tutors under.Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing / Higher diploma in Nursing/ Higher Diploma in Medical EducationA Masters degree would be a great advantageMust be registered with Nursing Council of KenyaAt least 3 years teaching experienceAt least 2 years management work experienceExperience in developing a teaching curriculum an added advantageA disciplinarian, highly motivated and able to lead a teamMust have good interpersonal skillsAbove 35 yearsAble to work with minimal supervisionExtent of carrying out duties and responsibility above.Is a committed Catholic, with good recommendation from own Parish PriestIs a person of attested integrity, with high degree of stewardship of resourcesIs innovative and assertiveIs able to work under little supervisionOur recruitment procedures shall apply

St. Luke’s Mission Hospital in partnership with DSW and WOFAK has received funds from the European Union to implement a 3 years project towards strengthening the Delivery of health services to Young Mothers in three Counties of Kilifi, Mombasa and Kwale in Coast province.

Applicants are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Manager.

The position holder will report to the Project Director.

Location: St. Luke's Mission Hospital, Kaloleni, Giryama with frequent travel to Mombasa and Kwale sites.

Overall function

The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, under the supervision of the Project Director, will be responsible for:

The design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation for the Delivering for young mothers.The incumbent will provide leadership to the Data officers as well as overall guidance on project monitoring and evaluation with compliance to the EU reporting requirements.Preparation of performance monitoring/M&E plan including indicators, data sources, baselines and gapsDevelopment and maintenance of database/information systemContribute effectively at national and sub-national levels to Health Management Information System strengtheningProvide support to Sub Recipients and staff of partner on M&E and knowledge management; develop project monitoring and evaluation plans and support the correct implementation and use of routine data collection tools.Ensure that data is used to highlight important programmatic gaps and coordinate with program management and others in addressing these gaps.Conduct routine monitoring visits to project sites, including the conduct of data verification and validation and data quality assessments (DQAs) using standard checklists.Facilitate in the preparation of quarterly data and make presentations at suitable fora.Build capacity of data officers in project monitoring and with program staff, use program/project monitoring data to improve existing programs performance.Provide technical support in development and implementation of evaluation and operations research.Contribute regularly to organizational website and publicationsRepresent ARFH and makes presentations at professional meetings, conferences and workshops related to Monitoring and Evaluation including M&E Technical Working Group (TWG) and other relevant technical committees as delegated by the project directorDegree in Social sciences or masters degree in public health, epidemiology or related field from a recognized institution.Minimum of 4-5 years experience of working on donor funded projects as Knowledge M&E officer/managerDemonstrated experience in developing and managing databases and information systemSound understanding and awareness of issues relating to the access and use of information and knowledgeAbility to relate effectively with development partners, Civil Society Organizations and MoH at national and state levelsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsHigh level of proficiency in computer packages and statistical software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Epi-info and SPSSAll applications including a current CV, academic and professional testimonials (attachments bearing both your names and job title) telephone numbers and references (one who should be your current/ former supervisor) should be sent to the: meodym@gmail.com by 28th February 2012
