Job Description
Vacancy: Freight Operations Manager
Reports To: Chief Operations Manager
Description: To efficiently and cost effectively operate a commercial or industrial distribution centre and the warehousing facilities.Key Duties
To manage inbound activities related to the receipt and storage of goods, inventory management, and claims.
To oversee outbound activities related to order-filling, stock replenishment and shipping.
Responsible for budgeting, customer service, facility and equipment operation.
To administer overall inventory management, productivity, accuracy, and loss prevention programs to ensure that customer requirements are met.
Coordinates inbound and/or outbound activities
Implements safety, security, housekeeping, and sanitation programs
Responsible for accurate inventory and productivity levels
Hires, supervises, schedules, and trains personnel
May manage documentation and flow of imported goods through bonded warehouses.
Coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.
Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services.
Review global, national, or regional transportation or logistics reports for ways to improve efficiency or minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities.
Qualifications:
Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain.
Higher Diploma in Supply Chain management
At least 3 years experience in a Logistics and Supply chain environment.
Flexibility to travel in major towns in Kenya.
Must possess considerable knowledge of Air Freight and Sea Freight management.
Strong communication skills, problem solving skills, leadership skills, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
