Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) is a State Corporation
established in 1986 with obligation to undertake forest research,
generate and promote improved technologies for sustainable management,
conservation and development of forest and allied natural resources.
The Institute wishes to recruit a dynamic, result-oriented and self driven person to fill the vacant position below:

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Network Administrator to maintain a stable network environment.
- Conduct daily backups of network files and test on a regular basis.
- Initiate virus detection policies and procedures.
- Assist in implementing, supervising and testing the Institute‟s Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Provide internal office support for office software applications and validate licensing.
- Assist in coordinating maintenance of Local Area Network, Wide Area Network and other hardware with vendors.
- Manage Storage Area Network, Network Attached Devices and Direct Attached Devices.
- Assist in regularly evaluating network resources and implementing improvements.
Requirements for Appointment
- At least 3 years‟ experience working with Local Area Networks, E-mail services on Novell GroupWise/Windows 2003/2008 networks in a Windows environment and/or Novell/Windows NT professional certification.
- Diploma in Information Technology, computer science, Business and IT (BIT) or information systems from a recognized Institution.
- A professional certification from Novell or Microsoft in network software is considered desirable (CCNA or CompTia N+).
- Linux Administration (CompTIA Linux+ or SUSE Certified Linux Administrator or LPIC-1: Linux Server Professional Certification or equivalent)
- Ability to carry network equipment.
