Internship Announcement KEMRI/CDC Research and Public Health CollaborationThis program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conducts research in malaria, HIV and other diseases.
HBTC Program in Nairobi is in need of 5 interns for HIV testing and counseling in Mathare informal settlements for three months – commencing mid May.
Internship positions and its Educational requirements:Certificate in HIV counseling – certified by NASCOPCertificate in psychological counselingReady to travel door to door in sometimes difficult terrain and bad weatherA good team player and ready to combine efforts in achieving the project’s goalsCurrent resident of NairobiAvailable to be engaged for at least 2 weekends per month or more as neededLocation: Nairobi.

Experience: No experience needed.
Appointment in the Internship program will be for three months. (During the period of Internship, the successful candidate will not be eligible for employment with the KEMRI/CDC Program within the three months of internship)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Develop an in-depth understanding study design and goal, and ensure that the study is conducted in compliance with study protocols and other regulatory requirementsSupervise field staff and provide on-site oversight of all study-related activitiesMonitor and report on enrolment progressCheck that all items necessary for successful conduct of the study are available to study staffCoordinate procurement process for supplies neededPlan and chair meetings with study staff as neededWork with the data manager to resolve any data queries in the fieldRespond to questions about the study posed by study participants and/or PIsProvide progress reports and solve and report problems encountered in the field to the PIsArrange community sensitization activities if  and when neededWork with study administrative staff to generate budget report on a monthly basis. Ensure that all deliveries/births of enrolled EMEP participants are captured on timePerform any other duties as assigned by the study PIsContract for 1 year, renewable as per KEMRI scheme of service. Specific tasks and responsibilities:

The Management Accountant – Third party projects will:

Compile and prepare third party project cost for activities scheduled and translate these to an operational budgetPerform financial analysis of business costs, forecast future expected costs and ensure they are in line with the agreed operation plan.Ensure complete, accurate and up to date disclosure of expenses incurred by third party projects and distribution of the same to all the branches.Ensure that the financial requirements in the third party agreements with KEMRI are fully met on a timely basis.Perform monthly bank reconciliation and review daily cash reconciliation with regard to the third party projects.Facilitate efficient cash movements between the donors, KEMRI, the program’s main bank account and the Cash Office.Support third party projects in their daily finance matters.Participate in internal audits for third party projects as scheduled and provide auditors with accounting documents and explanations to audit queries as requested.Ensure that regular management information is generated on time, including comparison of results with agreed forecasts and cash flow reports.Participate in third party cross-functional project meetings on a regular basis.Terms of Employment:
