Medair Somalia / Somaliland is seeking a qualified candidate to provide maternity cover for the following position based in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting the Medair team in Somalia/ Somaliland. The person filling this position will work directly under the Project Support Manager.

Finance & Admin Assistant (maternity cover starting May 2013)
Main responsibilities include:
 

Disburse and ensure accurate and timely accounting for cashPerform weekly physical cash countsOnline banking and processing of cheque payments within authorisation limits Ensure transfers of cash to the field in a timely mannerWeekly expense sheet closureMonthly closure of accounts and scanning of accounts documentation meeting deadlinesWork with Logistics and other staff to maintain required audit trail for all financial transactionsProvide support in tracing supporting documents whenever an audit is being carried out Prepare staff salaries monthly and make payments to individual bank accounts onlineQualifications and experience:Diploma in Finance or Business Studies with a bias in finance Minimum 2 years relevant post-qualification professional experienceComputer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and OutlookExcellent English (oral & written)Applications are invited from qualified persons to fill the above position. If you believe you are the candidate we are looking for, please submit your letter of application and CV.Include telephone and email contacts of two professional references including your current/most recent employer.

Survey period: August 2012 (Specific dates to be confirmed)
Programme / Project title: Integrated Emergency Health, Nutrition and WASH Programme
 Medair intends to commission a survey to determine the coverage of the OTP/SFP programme in Burao, South Togdheer, El Efweyne and Cynabo using the CSAS or SQUEAC methodology
 To map out both point and period coverage for the targeted areas.Identify factors affecting the uptake of OTP/SFP services in Medair targetedDevelop in collaboration with Medair, WFP and UNICEF, specific recommendations to improve the uptake of OTP/SFP programmes.Transfer knowledge and skill about the chosen methodology to Medair’s nutrition team.Arrange in coordination with Medair, the staff and material needed for the surveyEnsure all ethical and other survey clearance has been obtained from responsible officesTrain data collectors with the key emphasis on achieving quality and genuine dataCoordinate and lead the survey team throughout the surveyEnsure data quality while in the field and during data entry and analysisResponsible for data cleaning, coding, preliminary and final reportFull report on coverage survey of nutrition intervention (OTP and SFP) for Burao, South Togdheer, Cynabo and El Efweyne districtsCoverage survey power-point presentation (10-15 slides)Survey data base on completion of final reportThe consultant must hold a Bachelor of Nutrition or Masters in Public Health and have had previous experience in conducting Nutrition Coverage Surveys using SQUEAC Methodology. Ability to train people with basic education will be highly valued.
Duration of the consultancy will be up to 5 weeks (4 weeks preparation and data collection and 1 week data analysis and reporting).

Medair Somalia / Somaliland is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following positions based in Caynabo, Sool region, Somaliland, with frequent visits to field sites in Caynabo and Cel Afweyene districts of Sool and Sanag regions respectively.

Duration of commitment: 9 months

1. Nutrition Project Manager

This position will report to the Project Coordinator (PC) Caynabo.

Overall responsibility

To set-up, manage and supervise the nutrition programme in Sool and SanaagDetailed responsibilities include:
Develop and manage comprehensive activity plans covering the time frame of the projects.Provide leadership to the teams regarding project objectives (planning and outreach)Capacity building of national staff on diagnosis and treatment of nutrition patients following International CTC treatment guidelinesGive input to IYCF, OTP/SFP and SC teams and medical advisor regarding current nutritional health promotion information and tools and advise accordinglyAnalysis and follow up of monthly nutritional reports from the health posts/MCHs and OTP/SC locations.Writing consolidated nutritional reports, for review by the Medical AdvisorConduct regular monitoring and evaluation assessments against project objectivesCoordinate with external parties to ensure project supplies and equipment are available in a timely fashionAssess general or emergency nutritional situation, facilitate nutritional surveys when needed and make recommendations.Ensure that all Nutrition expenses are according to budget and meet all Medair standards.Qualifications and experience:
Diploma or Degree in Nutrition; Master’s degree in international nutrition will be an added advantage.2 years working as a nutritionist in a humanitarian setting and 2 years’ management experience2. Nutrition Officer

This position will report to the Nutrition Project Manager.

Overall responsibility

To assist in the set-up, management and supervision of the nutrition programme in Sool and Sanaag

Detailed responsibilities include:

Capacity building of national staff for the diagnosis and treatment of malnutrition following Medair/UNICEF /MoH treatment guidelinesCompilation and follow up of monthly nutrition reports from the health posts/ MCHs and OTP/SFP/SC locationsProper management of drugs, medical materials, equipment and food for the nutrition projectsContribute in planning and carrying out nutritional emergency responsesGive input to the Nutrition Project Manager on new nutritional protocols and keep up to date on new methods.Contribute to building the capacity of the stabilization centre while ensuring a good referral system between SFP/OTP Sites and SCEnsuring that proper management of all nutrition data for the regionEnsure good governance in all aspects of the nutrition project while ensuring Beneficiary Accountability
Qualifications and experience:
Diploma or degree in Nursing/Nutrition; a Masters degree in Nutrition Science will be an added advantage1 year working as a nutritionist (or as a nurse in a nutrition programme) and 1 year’s management experience3. Health Officer

This position will report to the Health Project Manager

Overall responsibility

To assist in the set up, management, and supervision of the community based health activities in Sool and SanaagDetailed responsibilities include:
Assist in the development and management of comprehensive activity plansProgramme implementation according to project budgetsConduct regular monitoring and evaluation assessments against project objectivesAccurate and timely reporting of activities according to Medair, donors and coordination bodiesOversee clinical expertise of national health staff, CHW’s and health volunteers on site.Coordinate with external partners to ensure project supplies and equipment is available in a timely fashionAppropriate management of drugs, medical materials and equipmentEnsure accurate records of all assets and stocks for the health project are maintainedProvide input to the integration of beneficiary participation into all aspects of the projectQualifications and experience:
Diploma or degree in Nursing, Medical Doctor or Midwife (training in Tropical Disease, Community Health or trauma will be an added advantage)2 years clinical experience and 1 year’s management experienceExperience in setting up and implementing primary health careApplications are hereby invited from qualified persons to fill the above positions.
