Nature Kenya is a membership Society established in 1909 to promote the study and conservation of nature in Eastern Africa.
The mission is to connect nature and people. Nature Kenya is seeking the services of two skilled and creative communications experts to develop high quality and high impact communications and marketing materials targeted at print and electronic media and business executives. To research, compile, prepare and produce a 10 to 15-minute high quality DVD directed at key decision makers in the business sector. This is aimed at introducing Nature Kenya and its work and explaining how businesses can join and work with Nature Kenya.To research, compile, prepare and produce four one-minute high quality visual (for TV) and audio (for radio) electronic materials. This is aimed at introducing Nature Kenya to the public and explaining why they should consider joining Nature Kenya as members.Excellence in production of electronic visual and audio marketing materials. Exhibits of materials will be required.Corporate Brochure Consultant:
Research, write, compile, design, edit, produce and print a corporate brochure, in consultation with Nature Kenya staff and board. JAF Nature Teens Camp is a two week camp experience which gives an opportunity to young people in Kenya and world over to experience God’s love and see that he has a purpose for their life.Camp is run by counsellors who are mostly volunteers and is held five times in a year during school breaks in two week sessions with 2 session in May, 1 in August and 2 more in December. During each session 50 youths attend camp, for a total of 200 each year.

Jahwar Amber Nature Teens Camp Program strives to develop the youth spiritually, mentally, morally, physically and economically to ensure they develop to their full potential in life within their current social-environment and beyond.

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Area Supervisor, the Camp Manager directs and coordinates activities of workers regarding preparing and maintaining buildings and facilities in camp. Coordinates through subordinate personnel or personally directs workers engaged in preparing and maintaining such Camp facilities as dining halls and barracks used by resident laborers. Directs activities of food service workers. Schedules purchase and delivery of food supplies.Enforces safety and sanitation regulations

The Marketing Coordinator will develop and implement strategies to elevate Nature Kenya’s public image and increase support and resources from the private sector and individuals.

Key qualifications include:

Formal qualification in a marketing, communications or public relations field;

The organization is looking for a talented individual to fill the post of Kenya Program Manager.

Essential Functions:

The Kenya Program Manager is responsible for implementing strategic activities and working with numerous partners to achieve program objectives in Kenya.

She / He works closely with the Africa Region staff, other divisions of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), government agencies, regional institutions, NGOs, multilateral and bilateral agencies, land and water managers, communities and the private sector to develop, coordinate and implement conservation strategies.

The current program involves a large community conservation focus in northern Kenya working with numerous partners.

The Kenya Program Manager will develop and manager annual work plans with these partners to clearly define TNC’s technical and financial contribution to joint conservation and livelihood objectives.

Monitoring project outcomes through an adaptive management approach is a critical TNC process that will need to be managed by this position with support from the TNC Africa Conservation Director.

The Kenya Program Manager is charged to grow the existing program by gaining Government support and by securing additional funding. This will require the Kenya Program Manager to meet frequently with Government of Kenya officials, Overseas Development Agencies, and private donors. Both government and private fundraising will be supported and coordinated by existing TNC fundraising staff in Kenya and America.

The Kenya Program Manager represents TNC in relationships and negotiations with government agencies, regional institutions, multilateral and bilateral agencies, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, communities, and multi-stakeholder working groups in Kenya.

A key aspect of the position will be to develop a sustainable business model for this program.

This may include sustainable financing, tourism development, additional partnerships and creative thinking.

Essential functions include:

Maintain and establish key partnerships with international, regional, national and local governmental, multilateral, bilateral, and nongovernmental organizations that can help advance TNC’s conservation objectives in Kenya. Raise awareness of TNC’s mission, goals and capacity among key government, multilateral, bilateral, NGO and local authority officials.Lead and coordinate the development and implementation of practical, innovative strategies by TNC and our partners to conserve priority places, species, ecosystem services and improve benefits for local people.Help TNC Africa Region raise private and public funds for the program by helping write and edit grant proposals and conducting donor visits.Develop policy statements and documents for conferences and coordinate TNC participation in priority conferences.The Kenya Program Manager works closely with staff of the Africa Region, as well as TNC’s Conservation Lands Program, Freshwater, Marine and Climate Change teams.

Basic Qualifications:

BA/BS degree and 5 years experience in conservation practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including coordinating the work of other professionals and partners.Experience in partnership development (partners, community, government, etc.).Benefits

Nature Kenya wishes to fill the positions of Site Project Officers and Site Project Extension Officers for the GEF/UNDP funded project “Strengthening the Protected Area Network within the Eastern Montane Forest Hotspot of Kenya”.

The Project staff shall be based at either Kakamega or the Cherengani Forests as part of a team delivering planned outputs, targets and activities.

The Site Project Officers (two positions – one position for Cherengani and one for Kakamega Forests) will be responsible for coordinating and supervising site-based day-to-day activity implementation as directed by the Site Support Specialist. S/he will convene and take minutes at Site Project Coordination meetings, supervise extension staff, organise workshops and write monthly progress reports, work plans and budgets.

The Site Project Extension Officers (four positions – two positions for Cherengani and two positions Kakamega Forests) will mobilise communities, provide training on a range of initiatives including but not limited to general organisational capacity development for sustainability, education and awareness for forest conservation, business development/planning, participatory forest management, action planning and community assessment.

Qualifications include:

* University degree (MSc added advantage) level qualification in environmental science; natural resource management, conservation biology, forestry;
* good understanding of local and national conservation, development and related political issues;
* proven financial and project management skills, staff and adaptive management skills, ability to work strategically, co-ordinate a wide range of activities and stakeholders, and act independently;
* proven experience in the implementation of conservation and development grants involving multiple stakeholders and community participation in day-to-day implementation; and
* proven technical report writing, communication and computer literacy;
* a minimum of 3 years relevant experience for Project Officers and 2 years experience for extension officers.

Key competencies include demonstrable corporate values, personal integrity, fairness and well being irrespective of gender, religion, tribe or age; proven leadership for impact based results through teams and partnerships, strong client and partners relationships; excellent liaison with donors, ability to think creatively, strategically and to produce strategic plans, and excellent communication skills.
