icipe is an intergovernmental organisation funded by government aid agencies, UN organisations and private foundations to carry out research and training in environmentally sound and sustainable management of arthropods for improving health and agricultural productivity in the tropics.
icipe has approximately 300 staff to support its research and capacity building programmes, located at various sites in Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.
icipe requires the services of two young and dynamic Junior Accountants. One position is based at Duduville campus while the other is based at icipe Thomas Odhiambo Campus (ITOC) in Mbita. The successful candidates will report to the Project Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for the following key activities among other things;
Processing of field and imprest returns from collaboratorsPreparing of donor financial statements on special projectsReconciliation of ledger for the donor financial statementsPreparing data for posting using macrosAnalysing Payroll and other control accountsCompile and input on monthly basis, data relating to creditors, debtors and general journalsPrepare monthly report/invoicing on specified debtorsInteract with Project Accounting Manager on daily basisBachelor of Commerce degree from a recognised university plus at least CPA IIA minimum of 2 years working experience in a busy commercial environment or an international organisation, on general accounting ledger, and financial reportingMust be computer literate with excellent working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheetsMust be able to use Sun accounting packageKnowledge and proficiency in finance/accounting principlesBe organised and possess ability to multi-taskGood interpersonal skills are necessary.Applications will be accepted up to 14 May 2011, or until the position is filled, whichever is earlier.
