Vacancy: Freight Operations Manager
 

Reports To: Chief Operations Manager
 

Description: To efficiently and cost effectively operate a commercial or industrial distribution centre and the warehousing facilities.

Key Duties

• To manage inbound activities related to the receipt and storage of goods, inventory management, and claims.


• To oversee outbound activities related to order-filling, stock replenishment and shipping.


• Responsible for budgeting, customer service, facility and equipment operation.


• To administer overall inventory management, productivity, accuracy, and loss prevention programs to ensure that customer requirements are met.


• Coordinates inbound and/or outbound activities


• Implements safety, security, housekeeping, and sanitation programs


• Responsible for accurate inventory and productivity levels


• Hires, supervises, schedules, and trains personnel


• May manage documentation and flow of imported goods through bonded warehouses.


• Coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.


• Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services.


• Review global, national, or regional transportation or logistics reports for ways to improve efficiency or minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain.


• Higher Diploma in  Supply Chain management


• At least 3 years experience in a Logistics and Supply chain environment.


• Flexibility to travel in major towns in Kenya.


• Must possess considerable knowledge of Air Freight and Sea Freight management.


• Strong communication skills, problem solving skills, leadership skills, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
