INTERTEAM is a Swiss development cooperation organization working in Tanzania. 

We send experts as “Development Workers” to local partner organizations, working in the fields of health and education.

During their usually three year contracted assignments, the Development Workers build up the capacity of their counterparts.

Together with our partner organizations we fight for better living conditions and poverty alleviation in Tanzania.

Psychologist

Partner organization: Foundation Karibu Tanzania (FKT) is a non-governmental organization working at eliminating “Child Domestic Violence” (CDV) in Tanzania. 

Having opened Tanzania’s first Rescue Center for CDV, FKT provides psychosocial support for the affected children while simultaneously providing weekly counseling for the rehabilitation of the children’s respective “abusers”. 

FKT adamantly works at preventing Child Domestic Abuse in the community at large through different awareness and educational programs in collaboration with the local authorities and different key stakeholders

Tasks / Function: 

According to our Health Program for Tanzania, the applicant will support and improve the capacities of our partner organization, FKT. 

His/her function will be to coach, teach and train FKT’s staff (counselors, social workers, educators, nurses/matrons) regarding the Psychological and Emotional rehabilitation of the abused/tortured children admitted to FKT. 

The applicant will also improve FKT’s capacity concerning the rehabilitation of the children’s respective abusers during their weekly counseling

General Requirements: 

• Masters in Psychology specialized in child psychology


• At least two years of professional experience


• Minimum age not less than 30 years


• Good physical and mental health


• High social competence and self-competence


• Intercultural competence and sensitivity


• Interest in development cooperation and social issues


• Willingness to an adapted and simple lifestyle

Special Requirements: 

•  Know-how and experiences in the field of psychosocial support and youth work, in particular with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence


• Experiences in victim/perpetrator-related preventive strategies


• Excellent written and spoken English required


• Willingness to learn the local language Kiswahili
