Position Report to the Job Title: Accountants
Overall Objective: To ensure safe maintenance and profitable utilization of company resources by keeping and analyzing reliable and timely data and financial reports meeting the financial reports meeting the management and statutory requirements
Key Tasks
- Formulating sound financial policies, procedures and systems that will ensure sound management of funds in the company
- Coordinating budget and presentation of budgeting control in the company monthly and annual budgets must be prepared well before the beginning of the period and discussed in the management meetings
- Ensuring adequate control and monitoring the utilization of financial resources. He must always keep track of resource utilization to ensure maximum returns throughout the organization
- Maintain day to day book keeping prepare accurate and timely reports and distribute to appropriate users make a daily print out for all the general ledger journals for the previous day and forward it to the auditor after confirming the correctness
- Periodically ensure reconciliation of the cash books debtors and creditors account cash book must be reconciled weekly on receipt of the bank statements. Debtors and creditors must be reconciled o n a monthly basis. Petty cash reconciliation and physical check must be done at least once in every two weeks
- Supervise and appraise the accounts departmental staff and identify their training needs. Ay training needs should be communicated to the human resource manager as and when noticed
- Prepared monthly and yearly financial reports and review the same with management
- Attending to matters raised in audit management reports letters
- Ensure prompt collections from debtors and payments to creditors
- Ascertaining prompt optimum control system and monitoring accurate recording of all financial transactions
- Ensure all financial records (final accounts and supporting documents including for all past years) are properly filed and stored and avail the same as and when required for audit government departments like KRA during the required retention period
- Ensuring accurate costing of service offered
- Performing any other duty assigned by the management from time to time
Key Requirements
- BBA, BCOM in Accounting and Finance
- A Masters holder in Business Administration (Finance option) added advantage
- A CPA K holder
- Demonstrated experience of overall responsibility and accountability for the financial management of an organization preferably a busy transport organization or equivalent.
- Well conversant with computer applications-MS Office is mandatory
- Knowledge of accounting principles and hands on experience of using computerized financial accounting systems Good presentation and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Strong team player of high integrity, pleasant personality, ability to work under least supervision
- Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize
- High numeracy and sound technical skills
