Call for Expression of Interest
 

Christian Aid (CA) is a UK-based international NGO working to eradicate poverty around the world. It is currently working in more than 50 countries, and has been working in Kenya since 1997. 

The Kenya Country Programme presently focuses on Community Health and HIV, Governance, and Resilient Livelihoods.

In Kenya, CA has been engaging with the honey sector with an aim of unlocking the potential in the sector through commercialization of beekeeping and enhancing the business enabling environment hence guaranteeing profitability and better returns to the enterprises (more so small scale honey producers) in the market system

 

CA implements its programmes through partnerships, and is hence seeking two partners to undertake the following interventions in the honey sector in Kenya.
 

KHPHUB: Establishment of Honey Hubs
 

This work is being undertaken in Taita Taveta and Narok Counties in the first phase 2015/2016 and Makueni and Tharaka Nithi Counties 2016/2017 in the second phase. 

The project is being implemented in close collaboration with the respective County Governments and Kenya Honey Council
 

CA is inviting Expressions of Interest from institutions and entities in the private sector with; Strong experience in business development services support, technical capacity and practical engagement with projects related to the call; to partner with Christian Aid and its other partners to roll out functional and viable honey hubs in the four Counties.
 

Specifically, Christian Aid is seeking an organization with demonstrable capacity in setting up profitable social enterprises in the agricultural sector, institutional development support for community level organizations and enterprises, performance measurement for enterprise projects. Experience in the honey sector would be an added advantage in our consideration

KHPBEE: Institutional Capacity Development for Kenya Honey Council
 

CA is working to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Kenya Honey Council as an organization registered in Kenya and mandated by the honey sector to better facilitate the coordination and representation of the sector. 

The focus in this undertaking, is to support the institution to implement its current strategic plan and business model thus ensuring a more effective institution in execution of its role and mandate in the sector
 

CA is inviting Expressions of Interest from institutions and entities in the private sector with strong experience in institutional capacity development.
 

Specifically, CA is seeking an organization with demonstrable capacity in providing institutional support on governance, fundraising, human resourcing, financial sustainability and any other aspects with respect to membership organization.
 

Application
 

Interested organizations should submit an expression of interest not more than two pages indicating which intervention is being applied for whilst highlighting their suitability for the engagement as per the brief above.

CA will short list and only contact potential institutions based on the EOIs submitted and further engage the institutions for further assessments based on CA principles and criteria on partnerships

Due to the urgency on the project delivery, CA will recruit the partner on an on-going basis during the application period.
