1.0 INTRODUCTION
Solidaridad Network is an international solution-oriented civil society organization working through eight regional expertise centres to transform markets to make them more sustainable and inclusive. Our eight regional expertise centres include Asia, Eastern and Central Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America, Southern Africa, South America, West Africa and our global Secretariat in the Netherlands. Solidaridad Eastern and Central Africa, one of the regional centres, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya with country offices and programmes in Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda. We bring together supply chain players and engage them with innovative solutions to improve production, ensuring the transition to a sustainable and inclusive economy that maximizes the benefit for all. We facilitate strengthening of local capacity in developing countries, support the creation of enabling environments for economies to thrive, and improve market access.
1.1 RECLAIM SUSTAINABILITY (RS) Program.
RS Program Is a 5-year program (2021-2025) supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of the Netherlands. The program is implemented through a consortium and in brief it tries to invoke the actual meaning of sustainability both in theory and practice in global commodity supply chains. The Program works in 5 supply chains being; Cotton & Textiles, Gold, Food Products, Coffee and Tea. These commodity supply chains are sub-projects of the entire program.
The program seeks to strengthened interaction between:
• A Vibrant and Strong Civil Society that engages and debates with public and private decision makers, monitors implementation and enforcement of policies and mechanisms, holds decision makers accountable, safeguards gender and social inclusion, and demands and consumes sustainable products;
• A Responsible Private Sector implementing comprehensive policies and innovative inclusive business models for truly sustainable sourcing, production, trade and investment;
• A Supportive Public Sector enforcing national, regional and international comprehensive norms and regulatory frameworks that ensure sustainable production, trade and consumption.
2.0 Learning and Reflection Workshop
As part of the Mid-Term Evaluation (MTE) for the RS Program Solidaridad and partners have organized a learning and reflection exercise that brings together stakeholders from the public and private sector as well as implementing partners. The workshops are tentatively to be done the week of 26th-30th June 2023. The objectives of the workshop are:
● Reflect on the progress of RS! to date
● Explicate key changes/outcomes contributed by RS! work based on country ToC adaptations
● Generate and learn lessons on what strategies works best and which ones needs to change
● Test some of the fundamental ToC assumptions of the country RS! programme
● Plan follow up review of country targets & milestones
2.1 Objectives of the External Facilitator:
● The Facilitator is expected to work with RS Project managers on preparatory work needed for a two-day in-person workshop. She or He is to prepare a summary report with outputs from the workshops.
● In preparation for the workshop, the Facilitator, in consultation with the Solidaridad Project team shall revisit the schedule methodology already developed for the workshop. A detailed agenda for the actual workshop will accompany this schedule.
3.0 Deliverable
A comprehensive report on the provided template; and - A follow-up virtual meeting with the team on the outcome report. The report and the follow-up meeting shall be provided within one week after the workshop.
4.0 Duration of Work.
The duration for this assignment is 5 days. The Facilitator is expected to plan for one (1) preparatory working day prior to the workshop, two (2) days at the workshop, and two (2) days to finalize the comprehensive report on the output/ outcomes and a follow-up meeting with the team.
8. Duty Station
The Facilitator’s preparatory work, outcome report, and follow-up meetings will be done remotely while the workshop will be delivered in person. S/he should plan to arrive at the confirmed location at least one day prior to the scheduled start to finalize preparations. The Facilitator is expected to arrange for his/her logistics to and from the workshop venue Including air and ground travel where applicable, accommodation and meals. The costs will be reimbursed after the travels are made upon the submission of the supporting documents such as the receipts and boarding passes.
