Qualifications

Mass Communication Department

i) Senior Lecturer

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant field from a recognized university.

In addition the applicant must:

Have at least Six (6) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as a full–time Lecturer after PhD degree qualification.Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed Lecturer.Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or Workshops.Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.Evidence of success in some major non-teaching responsibility at the University or other reputable organizations.ii) Lecturer

Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university

Or

Must have a master’s degree and registered for PhD degree from a recognized academic institution plus at least three (3) years of teaching experience at university level after obtaining a masters degree and at least two (2) publications in referred journal(s).

Business administration Department

i) Associate Professor

Applicants must be PhD degree holders in the relevant area having at least eight (8) years of University teaching, and have served a minimum of three years at the senior lecturer level or demonstrate comparable professional experience.Have five (5) publications in refereed journals or a book since becoming senior lecturer.Demonstrate classroom skills as evidenced by student evaluations and peer reviews.Present evidence of success in some major non-teaching responsibility at University or other reputable organizations.Have supervised postgraduate students.ii) Senior Lecturer

Applicants must be holders of PhD Degree in the relevant area from a recognized university.

In addition the applicant must:

Have at least six (6) years of university teaching experience, three (3) of which he has worked as a full-time Lecturer.Have successfully supervised at least three (3) Master students since being appointed as a Lecturer.Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed Journals since being appointed as a Lecturer.Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or Workshops.Show evidence of active participation in Departmental activities and good quality teaching.Dean of students Office

i) Senior Assistant Dean of Students

Applicants must have Masters degree in counseling Psychology/Guidance and Counseling, Education Psychology or related fieldAt least 6 years administrative experience in students’ welfare matters in a University as an assistant Dean of Students.A deep, genuine interest in the work of students welfareMature with proven ability to effectively interact with students and other members of the University communityExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong leadership and team work abilitiesAbility to pro-actively respond to Students’ needsStrong analytical skillsIntegrity, commitment to service and respect for diversityDuties and responsibilities:

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the successful candidate will perform the following duties:

Coordinate all matters that affect student hostels, health, sports and student welfare including guidance, counseling and academic matters.Advising the ANU Student Council on matters concerning its functions.Handling student disciplinary cases.Co-coordinating all students’ publications and communication.Library Department

i) Senior Librarian

Applicants should have a PhD with at least three years experience at Librarian Level or Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized University with least five years experience at Librarian Level in a large Academic Library.

Knowledge of IT as Applied to Library Information Science and teaching Information Literacy Skills will be an added advantage. Applicants should show evidence of Leadership as well as Research and Publication.

ii) Librarian

Applicants should have a PhD. or Masters Degree in Library and Information Science and two years experience at the Level of Assistant Librarian in a large and well Computerized Academic Library and ability to teach Information Literacy Skills.

Evidence of Research and Publication and Professional involvement will be added advantage.

Public Relations and Communications Officer

Qualifications and Experience:

Masters degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media Studies or Journalism.3 years experience as a Public Relations and Communications Officer in an institution of higher learning.IT Savvy with a strong understanding of graphic design, social media, and web management.Working knowledge of mass and new media operations and its proper utilization for dissemination of information.Proven excellent editorial and writing skills.Strong planning, organizational skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications skills.Excellent presentation skills and having an outgoing personality.Ability to work with minimum supervision, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities.Working experience with a PR/Advertising Agency will be an added advantage.Main duties and responsibilities:
Ensure proper management of all ANU events.Increase awareness of ANU Brand among the public.Develop the University’s external and internal communications strategies that positions ANU as the University of Choice in the region and beyond.Coordinate external and internal communication activities, the content of the website, intranet and other internal needs as required.Manage university social sites to ensure they are fully updated with upcoming and ongoing events.Keep the university fraternity updated with interdepartmental news, innovations and developments.Coordinate and maintain excellent relations with the University’s active media network whilst developing new relations.Oversee production of news and feature stories, publicity materials, press releases, photographs, videos, and other strategic and targeted communications as required.Develop and maintain in-house editorial standards and ensure the quality of written information in terms of content and format.Supervise the development and distribution of promotional communications materials for all University events.Manage and coordinate all advertising activities of the University.Plan, organize and direct Public Relations activities and events that enhance ANU relationship with various target audience and enhance positive publicity.Cultivate a customer-oriented culture amongst ANU staff by devising and implementing various awareness creation and capacity building approaches in liaison with the relevant departments.Lead the University’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by developing appropriate strategy.To prepare the University calendar of events, internal directory and its distribution.To handle matters concerning the official University guests in liaison with concerned departments.Assist in developing/drafting the Vice Chancellor’s speeches.Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.Applicants should give full details of education and professional qualifications, experience, current post, salary and other financial benefits, copies of certificates, curriculum vitae, transcripts, the names and addresses of three referees (one of whom should be present or previous employer), should be addressed to:-

Admissions Office

Responsibilities: To provide administrative services in the University admissions office amongst other duties.

Job Requirement: A Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences from a recognized University, proficient in computer applications, excellent communication,

Examinations Office

Responsibilities: To assist in the processing of all University examinations, receipt and dispatch of examination materials, ensuring accuracy of students’ academic records amongst other duties.

Job Requirement: A Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or education background with two (2) years administrative working experience, proficient with computer applications and data analysis, good communication skills, high level of integrity and self drive, a team player, and flexible work hours during busy periods is required.

Registrar’s Office

Responsibilities: Management of the Registrar’s database- Assist in data modeling, developing database utilities and automated reporting, create shell scripts, execute data management languages, analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency, create back ups, test up grades and patches, implement security and encryption and recommend new database technologies amongst other duties.

Job Requirement: Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized university, At least two (2) years relevant working experience, experience with integrated university data system is desirable.

Marketing Office

Responsibilities: To assist in conducting market research, developing strategies for marketing university products and services, conducting marketing intelligence
and keeping the University informed of the changing trends in higher education amongst other duties.

Job Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with two years’ working experience within a marketing environment, proficient in computer applications and proven experience in customer and market research.

In addition, have excellent communication, excellent organizational, problem-solving, event planning and management skills.

Public Relations

Responsibilities: To ensure a positive image of Africa Nazarene University to the general public by fostering the University’s ability to strategically drive the institutions image and respond appropriately to customer needs amongst other duties.

Job Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree in Public relations, Mass communications or journalism and post graduate degree in the same fields, at least two (2) years working experience in journalism media relations, publications, event management and all facets of publics relations.

Institute of Distance and open learning

Key responsibilities: Working directly with the Distance & Open learning Director in managing the distance learning program, marketing the Open Learning Programme, maintain and update student records using the University Management Systems amongst other administrative duties.

The successful candidate should be totally committed, flexible and hands-on administrator to ensure smooth running of the office.

Job Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Business and Information Technology (BBIT) or related field from a recognized university. In addition the candidates should: Have at least two (2) years relevant post qualification working experience in a busy organization preferably in an institution of higher learning and show proof of computer literacy.

Front Office Assistant

Responsibilities: To provide professional day to day front office, administrative and clerical support to visitors, staff and students.

Job Requirement: Two (2) years training in front office management, professional training in operating a telephone switchboard or equivalent with three (3) years relevant work experience, efficient use of office equipment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proficient in computer applications.

Electrician

Responsibilities: Carry out all necessary repairs to electrical fixtures and fittings within the University property, Install and wire electrical hardware, ensure the safety of electrical work and systems, Performing unscheduled emergency repair or emergency maintenance work on the electrical systems as needed, Assisting other technicians in performing their duties and Supervision of projects assigned from time to time.

Job Requirement: Holder of a diploma in electrical and electronics course from reputable institutions, have a minimum of 3 years relevant working practical experience in the relevant field, ability to multi-task, set the highest personal standards of work performance, confident, aggressive and forward thinking person.

Work experience in institutes of higher learning will be an added advantage.
