Job Title: Senior Accountant
Industry: Construction
Location: Nairobi
Salary: 70K – 100K gross
Our client is a construction company that specializes in supply of building materials and interior design work for high end residential and commercial projects.
They seek to hire an all rounded senior accountant to manage the financial and accounting operations
Key Responsibilities
- Handle full spectrum of financial and cost accounting role e.g. AR, AP, GL, forecasting, budgeting etc
- Responsible for day to day finance and accounts operations
- Preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports.
- Assist in preparing assigned schedules for the annual and interim audits
- Perform project cost forecasts/budgets, cost tracking, monitoring and controls.
- Maintain project log and contribute to special projects as assigned.
- Responsible for timely monthly consolidated financial statements, payments, cash-flow management reporting for submission to HQ in France.
- Review & approve payment vouchers & journal entries
- Perform cash flow forecasting, budgeting and working closely with the operations and project teams in analyzing margins, variances and cost analysis.
- Issue project cost reports for review and approval.
- Develop and maintain internal control and effective accounting system and policies for the set up.
- Reconciliation of bank statements
- Cooperation with external auditors to carry out annual external auditing
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of accounting theory
- CPA designation preferred
- 5+ years accounting/finance experience in a busy environment, preferably construction
- Highly detail oriented and organized in work
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
- Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
- Demonstrate key qualities of a pro-active leader, including demonstration of motivation, mobilizing and inspiration during times of aggressive growth and constantly changing demands through example, most significantly – a consistent “can-do” attitude
