Purpose of Position:
Responsible for organizing, leading, contributing to and facilitating supply chain management (SCM) assessment and implementation programmes within each of the National Offices that will have the greatest impact on process improvement, simplification, standardization and cost containment.
Providing supply chain expertise to ensure adequate integration of supply chain management in programme planning, design, and implementation.Leading programme-supply chain integration and collaboration, providing the provision of technical advice and assistance to countries for product and service delivery innovation.Ability to complete project-level SCM activities in a timely and professional manner with sufficient attention to detail in deliverables, and regular and thorough reporting and project communications.Facilitate exchanges of best practices and work with partners and counterparts in the specific field and programme areas on supply chain issues for relief, development, and advocacy.Development of supply chain planning, procurement (sourcing and buying), vendor management.Influence the creation and development of a new or enhanced supply chain management organization at the National Office.Manage Project team in the NO which include SCM Specialist I and the NO Staff dedicated to the project and drive the project team to deliver on the agreed workplan.Lead the design of detailed supply chain management process flows and roles & responsibilities for each supply chain process step. Set overall direction for National Office SCM process team.Advise on team functions and performance.Drive sourcing and procurement process improvements through elimination of variation and waste, focusing on continuous process improvement.Lead and manage significant standardization and categorization of WV supplies and commodity-specific projects towards achieving strategic buying within each of the country programs and looking for ways to collaborate at regional and global levels.Implement key performance metrics process to be reported throughout the NO. Required:

University degree in business, science, engineering, technology or supply chain management or equivalent experience and professional qualification in supply chain management.Minimum eight (8) years professional work experience with progressively more responsibility relevant to supply chain issues.Minimum two (2) years working in cross-cultural environments and demonstrated ability to adapt to international project work.Extended operational experience in global supply chain management, business process improvement, project management and team based organizational change management.SCM technical skills required:Current knowledge of the latest developments and technology in the supply chain management field, preferably in various global industries.Experience with sourcing, material planning & forecasting, procurement, vendor management, contract negotiations and administration.Experience overseeing daily internal/external warehouse and transport operations, inventory management and logistics support. Familiarity with basics of fleet management, customs clearance and third party logistics preferred.Comprehension of supply chain performance measures in finance, operations and customer performance. Vacancy: Automotive Supply Chain Manager

Our client is an automobile company that designs, manufactures and sells highly durable, highly affordable vehicles for Africa’s mass market. 

They seek a long term commitment from an exceptional mid-career supply chain professional to lead and coordinate the development and operations of a robust international, largely outsourced supply chain to deliver our production vehicles. Purpose of the Job: The role will require a close working relationship with the venture’s CEO, Operations Director and Technical Director, engineering, production, finance and logistics teams as well as various international vendors.
 
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Work closely with engineering and quality teams to identify, evaluate and select suppliers and contract manufacturers to support the R&D and production of cost-effective vehicle parts and subassemblies. Negotiate all commercial terms and conditions with suppliers for the procurement and delivery of parts, materials, tools, equipment and services. Support engineering projects as well as production to establish a smooth and cost effective supply chain transition from R&D to initial production to scaled production operations. Define sourcing and schedule requirements and material ramp strategy for progressively sourced domestic production components. Deliver comprehensive cost analysis as basis for price negotiations with suppliers. Perform make-or-buy analysis supported by appropriately detailed cost projections. Work with future Planning and Materials Managers to ensure accurate Material Requirements Planning (MRP) results. Develop strategy and action plan for transitioning future contract manufacturers to be fully self-sufficient and capable of sourcing, purchasing, and managing sub-tier suppliers. Manage key supplier relationships and activities, both strategic and tactical, for components and subsystems. Constantly work to improve the efficiency of the supply chain, reducing costs and increasing responsiveness to customers. Work with all involved parties to ensure continuous operation of the production line, by managing material procurement and delivery to achieve maximum inventory turns. Work with future engineering team to process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and manage its impact on production materials availability and resulting obsolescence. Work flexibly in a highly cross-functional team environment involving Automotive Designer, Automotive Engineer, Cost Engineer as well as future manufacturing and product development teams, Buyers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers and Logistics Coordinators and Finance personnel. Assist suppliers in quality assurance processes and procedures to facilitate continuous improvement of supplier and product performance. Track performance of suppliers; monitor supplier performance on delivery, quality and cost. Manage and reduce Bill of Materials (BOM) cost by establishing alternative vendors, and negotiating price and delivery schedules. Identify logistics requirements and other operational needs that may significantly impact both the successful delivery of production and total cost of the product. Perform network location analysis to determine optimal logistics footprint based on transportation cost, warehousing cost, business characteristics, service requirements, and other inputs/constraints specific to the project. Assess delivery transportation modes, routing, consolidation opportunities, and other methodologies to create an optimal transportation solution within an integrated logistics network. Develop supply chain administration tools, process and documentation. Provide support as needed with critical supply chain issues, on-site implementations, and cross-functional process improvements. Take ownership of projects; plan milestones, timelines, budgets, resources and identify potential risks to deliver supply chain aspects within agreed completion dates. Be proactive regarding task completion and periodically advise wider team on project status, timing, resources, issues, and ability to deliver on-time with excellence. Ensure adherence and compliance to general automotive industry supply chain standards and best practices; maintain structured and versioned data outputs daily and backup data weekly. Work as an active member of the team, ensure effective communication between colleagues and positively contribute regularly to meetings and briefings. Qualifications

An ideal candidate should combine outstanding technical skills in supply chain management with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team. 

They should possess a strong skill set in managing global suppliers and high-profile materials programs involving contract manufacturers and progressive internal manufacturing operations along with experience in managing suppliers and materials for engineering projects, new product introduction, and production operations - preferably within the automotive industry.

Required

We are looking for a Supply Planner who will be responsible for the follow-up of all orders placed on two projects (Loyangalani and Lake Turkana Projects) from the supplier order execution till the delivery of the equipment (according to order Incoterm) and the payment of the supplier. The person will have to strictly follow the procurement frame defined by the Procurement Project Manager and will be responsible for the good application of the order. The Supply Planner will insure the respect of the deadline scheduled and will be able to alert/escalate to management in case of delay. He/She will also have to insure that all instructions (packaging, Marking...) will be followed by supplier and will have to obtain all contractual documents according to specification defined before. Finally, the person will have to prepare for submission all documents requested by customer and follow/update according to comments to obtain customer approval.
The person needs to have a strong knowledge and an understanding on the way to handle supply chain processes, international logistic standards (incoterms.) and have to be organized, with good anticipation and project oriented. Knowledge in international trade could be an opportunity to extend the scope of work by being the back up of the export logistic coordinator.
