ChildFund Kenya intends to recruit for the following position for a forthcoming Orphans and Vulnerable Children program in one or two regions in Kenya
 Duties / Responsibilities

The proposed OVC Manager will be responsible for the technical aspects of project implementation that relate to community and families, and ensure strong linkages with facility- level and other service delivery points. She/he reports directly to the Chief of Party (COP) and will advise and support the COP in providing technical direction to project implementation and ensure the project meets stated goals, expected results and reporting requirements.
She/he will take technical leadership role in coordination with GOK, local community organizations, and other partners.
This position will coordinate closely with the household economic strengthening specialist. She/he will be knowledgeable about evidence-based and state-of-the-art social service delivery approaches.
Requirements / Qualifications / SkillsA minimum of a Master’s Degree in social sciences or related field.Eight years of experience implementing OVC programs in a development context, with five of these years in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably Kenya. During this period she/he should have been involved with social services and or public health project design, implementation, reporting and evaluation.Demonstrated state-of-the-art experience at a mid- or senior level in at least three of the following areas: child protection, household economic strengthening, social protection, education, health and nutrition including HIV/AIDS care and support; quality improvement; social service systems strengthening, including social services workforce; M&E; and operations research.Five years demonstrated experience in managing, coordinating and supervising a team working with local community organizations, families and communities.At least five years demonstrated skills in project design, implementation and reporting, preferably for USG funded programs.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, donors and other stakeholders, particularly at the sub-national level.Professional level of oral and written fluency in English languageStrong writing skills about program activities, outcomes and impact.All offers of employment are made contingent upon ChildFund winning the anticipated Grant and the successful completion of all applicable background and reference checks.ChildFund International is committed to the protection of children and does not employ staff whose background is not suitable for working with children.

ChildFund, Kenya is seeking to recruit a highly competent and experienced person to fill the position of a Project Manager for its Child Survival and Health Grants Programs (CSHGP).

Position: Health and Nutrition Project Manager
Reports to: ChildFund Kenya Programs Director
Based in: In Nairobi with frequent travel to project location

Overall Description:

The Project Manager will be responsible for overall management of a 5 year maternal and child health and nutrition (MCHN) project contingent upon grant award. This job is anticipated to begin in October 1st 2011.

S/he will provide strategic and operational leadership to identify, implement, test and analyze community-oriented innovations to introduce and scale up a high impact MCHN intervention package which will achieve measurable outcomes among children, families and communities.

S/he will liaise closely with partner organizations, including relevant ministries of the Government of Kenya, USAID, and other international agencies/programs, among others.

Qualifications:

* Masters degree in public health from a recognized university.
* Minimum of three years of professional experience in a leadership role, in the implementation of community based MCHN related activities.
* Technical knowledge and experience in maternal health,, infant and young child feeding, community case management of childhood illnesses, and monitoring and evaluation of health programs.
* Experience in managing USG funding and familiarity with US Federal regulations.
* Knowledge of USAID procedures and familiarity with USAID’s maternal, newborn and child health, infectious disease, nutrition, and health systems strategies and programs.
* Previous employment or extensive collaboration and networking with NGOs.
* Experience in working with Ministry of Health and/or health officials.
* Excellent interpersonal skills & demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in teams.
* Strong English technical writing skills, and excellent oral communication skills.
* Computer literacy.
