Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Kenya Country Officer, the direct supervision of Senior Resources Management Officer (SRMO), and in close coordination with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Headquarters (HQs) and Manila ICT Service Centre, the successful candidate will provide all the necessary Information Technology (IT) support to the Country Office (CO), including coordinating IT assistance to Country Offices in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the ICT unit in IOM Kenya, ensuring that all requests are addressed timely and accurately with efficient allocation of resources. Assist in budgeting and allocating IT resources for the mission.




2. Implement systems upgrades and IT infrastructure changes in line with IOM ICT Standards and in close coordination with the Information Technology and Communications Service Centre in Manila. Install systems, network components, and software, recommending solutions to local technical constraints.




3. Secure the implementation of IOM ICT Standards, policies, and guidelines, with regards to implementation of network systems, IT security, software licensing, telecoms, and ICT procurement.




4. Monitor daily mission-critical application such as the Migrant Management Operational Systems Application, IGATOR and the SAP-based Processes and Resources Integrated Systems Management. Liaise effectively with technical counterparts for the proper functioning and availability of those systems. Assist with end-user training when required.




5. Ensure the required performance and stability of network services and servers (LAN, WAN, messaging, Internet and VSATs connectivity, VPN, etc.), to prevent and minimize downtime or service interruption.




6. Assist in training and supervising national IT staff in Kenya Country Office including sub offices.




7. Advise mission management as necessary, for required improvements on mission IT Infrastructure and provision of services as required for the efficient functioning of mission operations.




8. Carry out technical troubleshooting for, and assist with the configuration of, Tele-radiology IT infrastructure for the seamless data exchange between the Missions and Tele-Radiology Hub in Nairobi and Manila.




9. In coordination with SRMO, liaise with Logistics and Procurement Unit to ensure proper technical specification for purchase of ITC- related equipment and propose most suitable solutions.




10. Implement security processes for the various systems and network components including virus protection and Internet security. Provide guidance and information to users on phishing, Password Cracking, Malwares, etc.




11. Monitor daily the accuracy and completion of database, email and servers’ backups.




12. Provide first-line user support for staff in the Kenya Country Office in a timely and efficient manner.




13. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or

• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

• Progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems, or related area;

• Knowledge of Software & Systems Development Life Cycle and experience in managing applications development and/or support teams;

• Experience configuring and working with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) and SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2010, required;

• Extensive knowledge of Windows Active Directory and Messaging Systems, Cisco devices,

VPN, VoIP, MS Office, Antivirus Software and utilities; holder of CCNA and/or a Microsoft

Certification a distinct advantage;

• Knowledge of IT Service Management frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT.

Languages

Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Kiswahili, French and/or Spanish is an advantage.

The Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) is an independent Office established under Article 229 of the Constitution of Kenya.

The Office is charged with the primary oversight role of ensuring accountability in the use of public resources within the three arms of government (the Legislature, the Judiciary and the Executive) as well as the Constitutional Commissions, Independent Office and any entity that is funded from public funds.

Pursuant to Article 252 (1) (c) of the Constitution, the Office seeks to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill the following position:

Purpose of the job

Officers at this level will be deployed to drive OAG vehicles in the Headquarters and other OAG Offices located in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kakamega, Nyeri, Embu, Bungoma, Kisii, Machakos and Garissa.

Responsibilities

• Driving a motor vehicle as authorized.


• Carry out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure etc.


• Detect and report malfunctioning of vehicle systems.


• Proper maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned.


• Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road including safety of passengers and / or goods therein.


• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.


• Any other duties that may be assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.


• A valid driving license free from any current endorsements for classes of vehicles BCE.


• Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III conducted by the Ministry of Roads and Public Works.


• Attended a First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one week at St. John’s Ambulance or Kenya


• Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.


• At least two years’ driving experience

Role

As the Deployment Technician, you will be responsible for field installation and commissioning of KOKOpoints (mechatronic self-service machines which dispense cooking fuel) in retail outlets across Nairobi neighborhoods in advance of Nairobi Network Launch.

Responsibilities

• Carry out KOKOpoint installs and tests to installation and test protocols


• Collaborate with technical team and share information on test results, making adjustments where required through provided communication channels and tools


• Document activities by completing forms, reports, logs, and records using provided tools


• Ensure good work management of provided work orders, instructions, and schedules to meet daily targets and maintain high quality outputs


• Maintain assigned tools and equipment in good operating condition by following operating instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, maintaining supply levels, and performing regular maintenance


• Continuously identify needs for improvement by conveying it to supervisor and engineering team to maintain high quality work standards


• Maintain customer satisfaction through professional conduct and engagements


• Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Management System requirements

Qualifications

• Diploma/background in Electrical Engineering


• 1+ year experience in a field installation capacity


• Comfort with simple electronics & systems debugging


• Basic software development skills in embedded systems (Arduino)


• Lab and workshop skills, including soldering, wiring, and drilling


• Aptitude to learn quickly and adapt to dynamic work requirements and schedules


• Team first attitude and ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision


• Appreciation of ISO 45001:2018 and other related safety standards


• Class F motorbike license a plus

Our client is a tour company that rents out Land cruisers and other 4×4 vehicles to foreign tourists. They seek to recruit a qualified Auto Mechanic who will double up as the Workshop Supervisor and will be tasked to set up and run the daily operations of a small workshop that will maintain their growing fleet of 4×4 vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Identifies with the company’s quality commitment to service delivery and implements and monitors vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair functionality.


• Inspecting vehicles, mechanical workshop facilities, managing assets through planned maintenance and control systems, and arranging for defects and/or repair and maintenance requirements.


• Plans, prioritizes, and schedules vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair work.


• Communicating and ensuring statutory and procedural health and safety requirements to subordinate personnel through the verbal and written mediums for adoption and compliance.


• Oversees that staff performs all relevant mechanical/electrical functions of the fleet.


• Coordinating and controlling the efficient running of the mechanical workshop.


• Establishing key performance indicators and measures for determining/assessing the level and appropriateness of service delivery with respect to fleet and equipment maintenance and repair work.


• Monitors the capital and operational expenditure of the mechanical workshop.


• Performs specific administrative tasks associated with the updating and maintaining of records related to the operations of the mechanical workshop.


• Coordinates and controls the administration of the mechanical workshop ensuring that registers, log books, and other departmental records are created and effectively maintained.

Qualifications

• Certificate/ Diploma in automotive engineering module II, a Driving License class BCE and at least seven years working experience.


• Or A holder of Government trade test 1 in motor vehicle mechanics, a Driving License class BCE and at least two years working experience.


• Demonstrate deep knowledge and experience repairing 4×4 vehicles including Land cruisers and similar vehicles.


• Supervisory and good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently.


• Attention to detail, and Computer literate.


• Good communicator and fluency in English and Kiswahili.


• Excellent best-practice mechanical skills. Absolutely no jua-kali mentality!
