Job Description:

Digital Consulting Group Limited is looking for talented Developers with ZEND/Code Igniter experience to join our web development team in Nairobi. 

Ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of PHP and should have exhaustively worked on LAMP stack developing applications using PHP frameworks.
DutiesUsing relevant programming languages (PHP/HTML/MYSQL/JavaScript and Open Source CMS (JOOMLA, MODx, Wordpress) to design, develop and implement web based creative Solutions.Develop and maintain web applications and products using PHP Framework especially ZEND/Code Igniter.Liaise with project manager, design & QA team to turn designs into a working reality.Work closely with team to ensure adherence to best practice coding standards and architectures to meet stringent timelines.Manage changes, bugs, and enhancements for the application, modify the application where necessary and test its applicability to ensure it conforms to the specifications of Clients.Prepare the necessary technical documentation and Manuals for the applications.Provide end-user training and support.Ability to assist with front-end development (XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript) would be desi red.Knowledge of relational database management systems and MySQL databaseExcellent aptitude; ability to solve problems and work independently.Knowledge of Windows operating system including installation, troubleshooting and general personal pc maintenance.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide clear and patient instruction.Good organization, verbal and writing skills.Knowledge of using latest Cpanel  and phpmyadminProfessional PHP framework based development experience.Strong understanding of object-oriented PHP, MVC and Design patterns is a must.Experience with Zend  and CodeIgnitor  Framework is essential.  Knowledge of other PHP Frameworks like CakePHP, Symfony and QPHP is a plus.Excellent hands-on experience on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL database + jQuery, and cross platform xHTML skills is a plus.Need to have very good understanding of implementing unit testing.Experience working with 3rd party APIs (Facebook, Twitter, Google, shopping engines, GDSes etc.)Experience in resolving cross-browser compatibility issues.Working on scaling projects with multiple developers on a single codebases.Apply for this position:

This is a 9-month, full-time commitment with a small stipend. The program includes one month of intensive face-to-face training, daily coaching support and a position leading to the integration of technology in a community. Placements will be within the applicant's local community.

The Position

Reporting to the Kenya Country Director, the Country Program Manager will be part of the local executive team responsible for leading the delivery and growth of DOT in Kenya.

The Country Program Manager will be responsible for program operations, financial management, human resources, monitoring, evaluation and results.

The position is located in Nairobi, Kenya.

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of DOT Kenya program operations;Ensure accurate, cost-effective and transparent financial management of the operation; ensuring policies and procedures are established and implemented and consistent with international standards for transparency, accountable, effectiveness and efficiency;Manage, own and implement DOT’s training programs and support the staff and field contractors to strengthen their capacity and skills to deliver these programs;Collaborate with the DOT Kenya Country Director and the DOT Global Regional Team on:The strategic vision and sustainability plan for DOT Kenya country operations and programming;Standardized and coordinated monitoring and evaluation, and reporting of program outcomes;Research and program development to further DOTs overall goals and objectives, for example, support field teams to strengthen access to market linkages and business services for community beneficiaries;Publicity/PR/promotion plan with potential donors/partners;Incorporation of DOT’s objectives on gender equity throughout DOT Kenya’s organization and programming;Advocating for incorporating lesson’s learned as a result of DOTs programs and activities.A minimum of 5-10 years experience managing non-profit organizations, associations or large initiatives with progressively greater responsibility – preferably with a youth empowerment focus;Formally trained in project management methodologies;Experienced in budget preparation and financial management;Experienced in monitoring, evaluation and reporting;Minimum of undergraduate degree in business, computer science or related field;Strong appreciation for community development;Experience with training design and facilitation is desirable;Experience in technology leadership and advocacy;Proven relationship management skills;Excellent command of spoken and written English and Swahili;High level of proficiency in office desktop and Internet applications.Be comfortable leading, mentoring, inspiring and motivating staff with a positive “can do” attitude.
