S/he shall be fully in charge of the hospital’s medical functions. The Medical officer will specifically be responsible for:

M?decins Sans Fronti?res (MSF) Medecins Sans Frontieres is a private International Organization. Most of its members are Doctors and health workers but many other support professions contribute to MSF’s smooth functioning. MSF MSF OCB Somalia has an 80 bed capacity hospital in Guriel district of Galgaduud region in Somalia. In an effort to ensure continued provision of quality care to its patients, MSF is exploring into telemedicine as a way to further follow up operations/consultations across the border and support the existing medical personnel.
Main tasks:

The incumbent will provide medical support via telemedicine, from Nairobi, to the team of medical personnel in the field in close collaboration with the Medical Coordinator of Somalia mission. This support will be through:
• Daily ward round via telemedicine on selected complicated paediatric cases in which the field doctors need support on and participate in discussion forums on particular cases.
• Conduct training for the field doctors on specific topics where refreshment is needed.

Duty station: Nairobi, with visits to the field if/when required.

Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension on a part time basis.

Qualification & Specialisation required: MD, specialised in Paediatrics

Required skills, attributes and experience :

• Prior experience in clinical practice as Paediatrician. MSF experience is an advantage.
• Experience in telemedicine will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Somali language (written and spoken).

Part Time/ Full Time Doctor
