Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport, assist with basic visa and customs formalities and other arrangements, as required; ensure compliance with WHO rules and regulations including security and safety requirements.Deliver/collect and facilitate the customs clearance of official incoming and outgoing pouches, hand-delivery of mail, parcels and other heavy items to or from UN Agencies, Ministries, Embassies, Universities, airport, etc.Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle, checks fuel, oil, battery, breaks, tyres, etc. Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs, ensure the proper functioning and cleanliness of the vehicle.Log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc., maintain all the required documents/supplies up to date; including vehicle insurance, license, registration, logs, office directory, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle;Procure minor supplies for the Office, obtaining invoices for local purchase and arrange to pay office telephone and other bills, as required.Act as a messenger within the office, if needed and perform other related duties.How to apply:

Organizational Context and Scope

Under the overall supervision of the National Procurement and Logistics Officer and the direct supervision of the Logistics Assistant for the day to day technical duties, the incumbent will be responsible for driving IOM vehicles, transport persons and goods authorized by IOM, from one destination to another in a timely, safe and cost effective manner.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

Drive IOM vehicles and execute tasks as assigned by the Logistics Assistant.Ensure the safety of passengers, cargo and vehicle and observe traffic rules and road discipline.Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness before departure. The overall mandate of the NBA is to exercise the general supervision and control over the transfer, handling and use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) with a view to ensuring safety of human and animal health as well as the provision of an adequate level of protection of the environment.

He should have worked as a personal driver ( to a  Boss)  before for not less than two years.  He should reside around Karen and its environs or willing to relocate. He should have a O - Level certificate and have basic training in a business course. He should be a good communicator, able to manage time well and work under pressure. Under the overall supervision of the Officer in Charge (O.I.C.) FAO Somalia and the direct supervision of the Logistics Officer, the Driver is responsible for driving the Country Office Staff and also provides other transportation related and messenger services for the office. He / she ensures the safety, technical soundness and comfort of the vehicle(s) assigned. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the O.I.C. FAO Somalia and the direct supervision of the functional supervisor and performs the following duties: Drive the country office staff and their official visitors on official trips, and drive for the O.I.C. Good knowledge of the local driving rules and regulations; skills in minor vehicle repair. A high degree of punctuality and reliability is required. Safe driving manner. Good sense of direction and knowledge of local conditions. Ability to cope with extended working hours. In his/her function as Driver/ Messenger for FAO Offices, the incumbent is in regular contact with staff from all levels of the country office, with national and international visitors, with (high ranking) officials from the Government and other (UN) Agencies, with project managers, consultants and other personnel from within and outside the Organization. He / she is often the first point of contact for people from outside the country office. He / she interacts on a day-to-day basis with personnel and officials from local offices and service providers.
