Full Time Faculty and Programme Director, Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Dental Surgeon (Nairobi, Kakamega, Busia, Arusha, Kampala)
The Dental Unit is a state of the art dental set up with fully equipped dental chairs. The Dental Surgeon will review patients and monitor patients’ progress on a regular basis.

Radiation Therapy Technologist
The Radiation Therapy Technologist will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and efficient simulation and delivery of prescribed radiation treatment while maintaining quality patient care. S/he will maintain updated records and ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment and accessories.

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for conducting indepth assessment, monitor and review client’s needs and provide occupational therapy services using a wide range of treatment techniques.

Regional Pharmacy and Commodity Management Specialist
The Regional Pharmacy and Commodity Management Specialist (RPCMS) is responsible for coordinating, organizing and facilitating the supply chain management and appropriate medicines use activities for pharmaceutical and other medical or laboratory commodities in the region with a goal of ensuring their continuous and adequate availability at all facilities in the region, including but not limited to health commodities used in HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, reproductive health and essential medicines program.
He/She will leverage on MSH/HCSM and partner resources and technical teams to strategize and/or implement workable solutions to ensure availability of health commodities at health facilities, including medicines and laboratory supplies. The RPCMS will be responsible for providing technical leadership during implementation of pharmaceutical and commodity management interventions; strengthen coordination of pharmaceutical and commodity systems strengthening activities at regional level in support of the essential medicines and priority health programs such as HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria and RH.
In addition, He/She will also be expected to represent MSH/HCSM at the regional level in other related health fora convened by the government and other implementing partners. The RPCMS will promote collaboration and best practices in the supply chain management; provide linkages with national level initiatives led by the GOK’s Ministries. He/she will also advocate for pharmaceutical and commodity security strategies that integrate regional health facilities and their management in the planning, resource mobilization and monitoring activities.
The successful candidate should possess a degree in pharmacy, laboratory sciences, medicine or a related field or must have attained post graduate qualification in a health related field. He/She should have at least 5 years relevant professional working experience. Candidate with an MPH will have an added advantage. In addition, applicants should possess significant experience working with the Kenya public health services, preferably with an NGO, on programs related to pharmaceutical management, logistics and systems strengthening or improving laboratory commodities management.
He/she should have demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance to public health programs or projects and familiarity with broad based, multi sectoral framework and approaches to pharmaceutical and commodity management at the country, regional or global level.
Candidates will ideally be living in one of the mentioned regions, or be willing to relocate, and must be willing to travel extensively within the region and in the country. Expected travel is at least 50%.

Background

Jacaranda Health is a new venture that aims to set a new standard for maternity care in East Africa. We are combining business and clinical innovations to provide affordable maternity and reproductive health services to low-income urban women.

Job Description

In 2011 we launched mobile clinic services providing antenatal care at community sites around northeastern Nairobi.

In the coming months we will open our first fixed maternity clinic. We are seeking a licensed pharmacist to work with us on a consultancy basis to design our pharmacy operations in the clinic.

The successful applicant should have at least 3 years’ experience in a busy pharmacy. Strong preference will be given to applicants who have experience setting up pharmacy operations in a comparable facility for the first time.

The candidate should be available immediately or with minimal notice required. The project will last approximately one month, and applicants for this project may be considered for a permanent position at the conclusion of this project.

General description of the role

The Pharmacy Assistant will be responsible for assisting the PHC coordinator and the Assistant PHC Coordinator in the overall management of the Pharmaceuticals in Nairobi. This position demands good essential drugs and medical items knowledge coupled with strong ability, desire and competence to coordinate. The incumbent must have good management and interpersonal skills and ability to record and report accurately. - Create a reorder level for all the drugs used in GOAL’s area of operation for each field sites within 6 months of assignment.
- Review all the drug orders raised from the field before they are finally approved for purchase and shipment.
- Ensuring that the pharmaceuticals and medical items purchased and transiting through Nairobi are thoroughly checked and that they conform to the specifications as per the Quotations.
- The incumbent must be capable of providing trainings on proper pharmaceutical and dispensing procedures to the larger PHC team when called upon to.
- Any other duties as directed by the PHC Coordinator and or the Assistant PHC Coordinator.

Requirements
- Certificate in Pharmacy with at least 2 years post qualification working experience in an NGO or a busy pharmaceutical company. Must be registered by the relevant regulatory body to practice in Kenya.
- Must be familiar with the current drugs regulation in Kenya
- Must be familiar with the current drug register in Kenya
- T literate: must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel. MS Access an added advantage.
- Must be fluent in spoken and written English
- Must be able to self start.
- Must be enthusiastic, keen to travel, and ready to work extra hours to achieve the objectives of the programme

MSH would like to invite suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join its team on a health systems strengthening program that focuses on; strengthening commodity management in MOMS, MOPHS and in their peripheral health facilities, strengthening pharmaceutical policy and services and strengthening laboratory systems.

Regional Pharmacy and Commodity Management Specialist
2 Positions

The Regional Pharmacy and Commodity Management Specialist (RPCMS) is responsible for coordinating, organizing and facilitating the supply chain management and appropriate medicines use activities for pharmaceutical and other medical commodities in their respective region with the aim of supporting access to and rational use of commodities at health facilities in the region.

The health commodities will support HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, reproductive health and essential medicines programs. The RPCMS will leverage on Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS’s) resources and technical teams to strategize and implement workable solutions to strengthen pharmaceutical systems using proven approaches and tools.

Applicants will possess a minimum of a first degree in Pharmacy, Medicine or a related field with at least 8 years relevant experience or must have attained post graduate qualification in a health related field with a minimum of 3 years professional experience.

Candidates with an MPH will have a distinct advantage.

In addition, applicants will possess significant experience working with the Kenya public health services, on programs related to pharmaceutical management, logistics and systems strengthening.

Applicants will need to demonstrate their experience in providing technical assistance to public health programs or projects and familiarity with broad based, multi sectoral framework and approaches to pharmaceutical and commodity management at the country, regional or global level.

Candidates will be willing to be based and travel extensively within the region.
