Caritas Microfinance Bank is a newly formed faith based microfinance bank in Kenya whose vision is to empower all economically and socially. We are seeking to fill the position of a Credit Manager with a competent and able individual.
Job Summary
The Holder of this position will be responsible for protecting the company’s finances by ensuring prudent credit policies and procedures are in place to efficiently and effectively mitigate risk by controlling credit and managing the debts owed by customers to ensure profitability.
Credit Manager Job Key Responsibilities
To formulate credit policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented, reviewed and complied to.
Manage the credit function of the microfinance bank efficiently and effectively to ensure profitability and risk mitigation
Facilitate development of credit products through the evaluation of customer needs and activities in liaison with other departments.
Risk management through monitoring and administration of credit performance using credit scoring, appraisal reports andmonitoring of customers’ credit rating with credit reference agencies.
Develop and maintain business relationships with key customers and stakeholders in order to maintain and create business opportunities.
Responsible for ensuring a strong portfolio quality and control of the credit book by providing support to the branches on credit matters
Responsible for credit administration by setting terms of credit and ensure timely repayment by customers.
Negotiate repayment plans and discontinue credit to late-paying business customers
Initiate legal action to recover debts if necessary , meeting other creditors, arranging for goods to be recovered, and organizing for liquidation of a defaulter’s assets to offset outstanding debt.
Experience
The successful candidate will be expected to have had 5 years’ relevant work experience in Credit department 3 of which should be in a similar position preferably in a banking or microfinance environment.
Qualifications for Credit Manager Jobs in Kenya
A degree in Business Administration-Finance or Economics. A Masters’ degree would be an added advantage.
The positions require candidates with strong analytical and numerical skills, experience in credit control and a working knowledge of credit law.The ability to assess risk coupled with excellent written and oral skills, with demonstrable managerial, organizational and interpersonal skills will be essential.
