JOB SUMMARY


Reporting to the Chief Accountant and the Chief Finance Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for producing timely reports including but not limited to Bank Reconciliations, Branch-wise Reports and Management Reports to aid decision making.


This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.


The main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the below:



  • Be involved in posting various entries into the system

  • Carry out bank reconciliations for various bank accounts

  • Carry out reconciliations of revenue collection control accounts

  • Maintain and update various expense and balance sheet schedules

  • Prepare various internal reports on a daily, monthly and periodic basis within defined reporting deadlines

  • Prepare various reports required by stakeholders on a monthly basis

  • Carry out periodic updates of expected outturns of the financial performance of the company

  • Be involved in and support the annual budgeting process

  • Be involved and provide support in the annual audit

  • In charge of financial record keeping and annual audit for related companies

  • Provide support to the regional accountant as and when required

  • Any other duties assigned and stand in as a replacement to the staff within the department as and when required


Qualifications and Experience:



  • ACCA/ CPA (K)/ CIMA qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management/ related field

  • Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience of which at least 2 years should have been in a similar role in a commercial organization

  • Working knowledge of Kenyan tax laws

  • Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office

  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel would be an added advantage

  • Working knowledge of SAP B1 will be an added advantage

  • Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills

Position summary:



The Administrative and finance assistant will be part of the team that aims to help pastoralists make informed migration decisions through relevant digital information. Project Concern International (PCI) seeks to recruit individuals who are passionate, knowledgeable and experienced administrative work and have basic financial skills. The program is looking for people who are excited about the opportunity to work on a social enterprise project that could have huge impact for some of the most marginalized populations in Kenya and across the continent. The social enterprise will be focused on product testing, launch, marketing and sales of the AfriScout mobile application to pastoral communities in Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. The successful candidate’s assignment will involve office management, support in procurement, preparation of financial requisitions and other administrative work



Key Duties and responsibilities:




  1. Administrative work



· Draft and type routine correspondences



· Maintain filing and other office systems



· Handles communication including telephone, fax and email



· Assists in preparing programs for visitors, including hostel bookings, airport transfer, ticketing etc.



· Support in arranging travel schedules and related logistics (including fund monitoring), together with expense claims for staff



· Maintains office environment and stationary supplies with appropriate records



· Liaises with the appropriate units for repair, supply and maintenance of office facilities

Project Overview:



There are a quarter of a billion pastoralists in Africa using basic, and increasingly unreliable methods to find adequate grazing. SAPARM (Satellite Assisted Pastoral Resource Management) fuses traditional knowledge and practices with the accuracy of satellite imagery to more precisely locate grazing areas. After completing a successful proof of concept in Ethiopia in 2013/14, PCI has expanded to reach over 1 million pastoralists with support from USAID/DIV and Google. Initially piloted with paper maps, PCI has now developed an android powered app called AfriScout. With the rapid uptake of smartphones and increasing mobile broadband coverage in East Africa, Google granted PCI additional funding to develop and test a fee-for-service model using the mobile app version of SAPARM called “AfriScout”.

Qualifications



  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine

  • At least three (3) years working experience in clinical research or in a busy clinic setting

  • Registration certificate and valid practicing license from the relevant professional body

  • Experience in clinical trials will be an added advantage

  • Ability to manage and supervise a team of study personnel

  • Ability to communicate effectively and frequently to domestic and international supervisors in person, over the phone, on Skype, and over email

  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, email)

Responsibilities



  • Screen and consent study participant who meet the eligibility criteria

  • Perform baseline and follow up physical examination

  • Attend to study participants at the health facility and do daily ward rounds

  • Administer the investigational product to the enrolled study participant

  • Management and recording of incidental illnesses and any side effects from the study investigational product

  • Make diagnoses and decisions to admit patients per the study protocol

  • Ensure accuracy, correctness and completeness of questionnaires by performing quality control

  • Ensure real time data entry of the questionnaires into the database within 24 hours

  • Present weekly and monthly reports of clinic activities on patients enrolled and all excluded patients and reasons for exclusion where applicable plans for follow up

  • Record and report any SAEs observed or reported by the care giver immediately within 24 hours of becoming aware

  • Maintain a chart of initial and follow up visits by clients to track their progress and clinic attendance

  • Collect specimens and ensure tracking to ensure delivery oversee the work in the laboratory

  • Perform verbal autopsy on all cases of mortality occurring at home

  • Maintain proper communication between clinic and Study Coordinators office

  • Manage study clinic staff at the study site

  • Manage stock inventory within the study site

  • Make weekly reports on the administration of aspects of responsible study site

  • Address weekly data queries

  • Fill-in for site staff members when necessary

  • Perform other duties that may be given by the Study Coordinator and investigators

  • Uphold the mission and vision of KEMRI/UW organization


Terms of Employment: One year renewable contract as per KEMRI scheme of service and a probation period for the first 3 months. The successful candidate shall be based in Nyanza.

Job Description: The Study Nurse will work as part of a study team responsible for operating one of six study sites in part of the clinical trial titled “Antibiotics for Children with Severe Diarrhea (ABCD) Trial”.
