Job Description:

We are seeking a minimum two year commitment from an exceptional early-mid career human resources professional to enhance and improve upon organisational capacity building efforts to support the growth of a driven and ambitious start-up social business – a truly unique opportunity to create impact on a global scale. The role will require a close working relationship with the venture’s CEO, Operations Director, Financial Director, Operations Officer and future production and strategy teams and across the entire organisation as a whole. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Internal Development

1. Values System: formalise a clear and compelling values system for the venture with the CEO and lead initiatives to translate this into a strong, understood and lasting organisation culture.
2. Systems Development: develop robust and scalable HR and Administrative systems across the organisation, from tactical to strategic.
3. Recruiting: facilitate leadership discussions around the staffing strategy and manage the end-to-end recruitment and on boarding of international and local staff, including developing job descriptions and managing job postings.
4. Professional Development: assist the future Training Manager to roll out professional development trainings for our corporate and production staff, including integration with performance management.
5. Performance Management: lead the development and roll out of performance management processes and tools across the organisation, including integration with career paths.
6. Career Paths: develop a structured promotion pathway for each role, including timescales, remuneration, performance requirements and reporting lines.
7. Human Resource Manual: develop and maintain a simple, clear and structured Human Resources Manual for the organisation aligned to the employment laws of Kenya and UK.
8. Knowledge Management: assist the future Technology Officer to develop a robust and scalable knowledge management system and ensure that historical knowledge is transmitted and built upon by current staff.
9. Staff Incentives: develop and maintain a compelling but cost effective employee incentive scheme across the organisation to maximise recruitment and retention of world-class staff, including pay scale benchmarking, bonus packages, responsibility scope and other incentives.
10. Internal Communications: facilitate initiatives to formalise ad-hoc and periodic internal communications across the organisation.
11. Process Improvement: assess current HR and Administrative processes to identify and action further improvements on an on-going basis.

External Relations

12. Proposal Support: support the development of funding and partnership proposals, specifically on content concerning our organisation strategy, structure and culture.
13. External Communications: prepare and manage communications with funders and other external stakeholders on a periodic and ad-hoc basis.
14. Funder Management: support on-going funder relationships, including executing associated administrative tasks and reports.
15. UK Office Liaison: liaise with UK office as needed to support administrative and reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

An ideal candidate should combine a unique blend of exceptional analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. They should possess an energetic disposition along with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and take initiative regularly. They should be rigorous, pragmatic and on-the-ground solution focussed – not overly academic.

Required

- Bachelors Degree (minimum) in Business, Human Capital, Marketing, Communications, Economics or similar
- 3.4 GPA or higher from a top university worldwide
- 3-5+ years of professional work experience in business administration, human capital, marketing or communications

The Education Technical Advisor is responsible for enhancing Caritas Switzerland/Luxembourg’s capacity to deliver quality education services and strengthening linkages with Education Networks and platforms for coordination, networking and fundraising.
Position Education Technical Advisor (80% Somaliland, 20% Regional)

Accountant Job Summary

Our client is a registered education charity delivering education services to a diverse range of clients worldwide. This Not-for-Profit Organisation wishes to recruit two professionals to provide financial management and accounting services to programmes managed by its African Regional Office and ensure that financial affairs are conducted in a professional manner.

# Responsibilities

1. Preparation of annual and forecast budgets in liaison with the Finance team and budget holders to ensure the following year’s income and expenditure is profiled in accordance with the delivery plans and group level objectives.
2. Prepare accurate and timely weekly / monthly reports and updated Budget Vs Actual (BVA) for a portfolio of projects in order to compare actual performance against budget. Investigate any variances and provide supporting notes where applicable. Highlight any areas of concern to the Senior Accountant and budget holders for Management discussions.
3. Ensure correct balances for deferred and accrued income and regularly review the accruals commitment to ensure accuracy.
4. Ensure financial reporting requirements of client contracts are fully understood and complied with. Provide training for programme management staff in finance processes ensuring clients’ procedures are fully understood and followed.
5. Regularly liaise with the Financial Accounting team to ensure the correct balance sheet position is shown in the accounts. Investigate any discrepancies and ensure sufficient justification is available to support the balances.
6. Assist in the improvement and implementation of financial processes and procedures ensuring standardisation where possible.
7. Ensure knowledge and processes within individual projects are documented to facilitate effective cover for periods of leave and to facilitate an efficient hand over of projects.
8. Assist in the year- end audit preparations.
9. Produce ad hoc financial reports as requested by the Senior Accountant and budget holders.
10. Carry out other such activities to support the Senior Accountant and head office Finance Business Partner. Act for the Senior Accountant within agreed conditions.

Requirements

o Business degree in Accounting or Finance
o Professional qualification in ACCA or CPA.
o A thorough understanding of accounting concepts and financial procedures for development partners including EC and USAID
o IT literate including MS Office; experience of QB is desirable
o Strong foundation in preparing detailed Budgets and Management Accounts for projects or business units. Experience of explaining variances and dealing with any queries.
o Proven experience of setting up reporting for new projects through to project close down.
o Proven experience of being proactive by identifying areas of concern or areas for improvement.
o Ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment and prioritise workloads effectively.
o A methodical and accurate approach to work with strong attention to detail.
o Flexibility to manage the reporting for a portfolio of projects and the ability to develop a quick and thorough understanding of new projects/ business areas.
o Demonstrated good relationships with clients.
