Role Profile

The successful candidate will lead the Public Relations team by:

Financial and Legal Advisory Services for Restructuring Kenya Post Office Savings Bank (KPOSB)

Call for Expression of Interest

The Kenya Post Office Savings Bank (KPOSB) is a savings bank established in 1910 and currently operates under the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank Act (enacted 1978) as its primary governing law. 

The mandate of KPOSB is to encourage a savings culture among Kenyans, pool personal savings for national development and provide affordable savings facilities and instruments.
The Government of Kenya has decided that the mandates of KPOSB and PCK be re-defined and, if necessary, new or revised legislation be introduced to further the delivery of financial services by KPOSB.
To this end, Government of Kenya, through the National Treasury, has requested the Financial Sector Deepening Trust, Kenya (FSD Kenya), to provide financial and legal advisory services for the restructuring of KPOSB.
This will encompass a redefinition of its mandate, governing legislation, structure, and operations.FSD Kenya is seeking Expression of Interest (EOIs) for this work from firms or consortia that have the following:At least 10 years’ practical banking experience, preferably in both commercial banking and savings banks;Experience in financial sector reforms and strategic planning, preferably with an emphasis on savings banks reform;Experience in providing financial advice on restructuring of financial entities; and,Experience in providing legal advice on restructuring of financial entities, including relevant knowledge and expertise ¡n the Kenyan environment.A fully detailed proposal, work plan or financial proposal is not required at this stage.

Advise on matters pertaining to the institution’s organizational issues.Facilitators: Lead trainings attended by the directors of our partner organizations.Trainings are based on capacity building and the weekly topics emerge from the needs of our partners. Build Africa is seeking to recruit new members for its Board in Kenya.

The BAK Board is an Advisory Board and will be bound by the decisions of the Build-Africa UK executive that is in turn answerable to the UK Management Board.

The role of the BAK Advisory Board is to ensure that BAK fulfils its aims in line with the organisation’s mission and vision.

The Advisory Board will specifically provide direction to BAK: review and offer advice on BAK’s strategic plan, annual plans and budgets, advice to management and to the Chief Executive in the appointment of the Country Director.

The Board will monitor organizational performance and compliance with the constitution and relevant legislation, review and offer advice to BAK on policy and procedures to ensure integrity in management practices and ensure BAK operates within the highest ethical standards.

Board members will be called upon to represent BAK to a variety of bodies and be well informed of the activities of the organisation so as to be able to promote the good name of the organisation.

BAK is looking for board members with the following professional and technical skills: Program Development especially enterprise /income generation, education, gender, HIV and environment; Business or NGO leadership, change management and Organisational Development; Fundraising, government and donor contacts; and Finance.
