Our client an ICT company is urgently seeking to fill the above post in Nairobi.
Materials Planner Job Purpose
The Materials Planner will be a key member of the Procurement team charged with the duty of ensuring demand for materials to projects and stock to customers is met on time and in full.
He/she should be able to support the complete cycle of materials flow, material data integrity and inventory controls in order to ensure timely and quality delivery of results.
The job holder should be a highly organized, customer oriented individual with good communication skills and should have the ability to proactively engage various stakeholders, prioritize tasks and work to firm deadlines in a fast –paced and multi-tasked environment.
Duties & Responsibility
Prepare and maintain comprehensive materials requirement plans based on Project s’ bill of quantities, job quotations and other detailed requisitions.
Manage processing of purchase orders, validate delivery schedule dates and ensure suppliers are provided with delivery schedules on a timely basis to ensure materials are available as needed by user departments and external clients. Monitor deliveries to Project sites and internal/external customers to ensure on time and in full delivery.
Continuously review outstanding requirements, monitor and follow up on vendor performance.
Ensure proper maintenance of accurate and current data in SAP on materials purchase orders, quantities, prices, lead times, approved bill of materials, deliveries, transfers and other related information. Ensure data integrity is maintained.
Continuously monitor, review and update material inventory parameters to ensure optimal levels, inventory accuracy and data integrity. Maintain relevant KPI’s for materials and ensure working capital targets are met.
Ensure timely and accurate translation and communication of the materials resourcing plansinto periodic, rolling cash flow forecasts, for Finance to plan ahead and ensure timely payments to suppliers as per agreed terms.
Communicate and liaise on a prompt basis with internal customers/functional groups to resolve any issues relating to meeting requirements e.g. variations to bill of materials, supplier delays etc. Actively participate in the scheduled Projects update review meetings.
Track actual materials purchasedversus approved/ budgeted bill of materials, carry out robust variance analysis and drive remedial actions going forward.
Continuously review the materials planning and resourcing processes of the Company with the aims of introducing innovation, enhancing efficiency, cost
optimization and improving performance.
Qualifications and Experience for Materials Planner Jobs in Kenya
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Studies, Finance, Statistics or Supply Chain Management related field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in purchasing and supplies, in a dynamic and demanding work environment.
Knowledge of ERP based systems, operations, inventory management and MRP processes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively engage with suppliers, internal and external customers.
Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Knowledge and experience of the ICT sector would be an added advantage.
