Context of the mission: Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organisation whose mission is:

to seek at all times to encourage close working relationships with populations in its care.

The goal of MdM in Somalia is to offer health care services to the civilian populations in Bosaso, Puntland.

 

JHNP project is implemented jointly with Ministry of Health and UNICEF. MDM with his local partner ISDP will support the MoH on the technical, administrative and logistic side.  

This project aims at providing quality Maternal and Children health services to IDPs and host population in Bosaso through the implementation of the EPHS.The project aims at:

Increasing the access of the Bosaso population (IDPs and Host Population)  to HC services

Improving the quality of PHC and Reproductive Health in Bosaso

Improving the coordination and the capacity building of the MoH in Health promotion

General description of the RoleThe Medical Manager is part of the medical team based in Nairobi with 50% of the time in the field.

She will be under the hierarchical responsibility of the Program Coordinator. 

She supervises in collaboration with the Program Manager the medical staff regarding the reproductive and women health activities of the project.Purpose of the position: The medical manager is responsible for the overall day to day technical support, coordination, facilitation and management of health programme in Bosaso Puntland.

S/He will be responsible for internal and external representation in Bosaso and maintaining regular contact with the relevant stakeholders as appropriately.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

Oversee implementation of specific health project funded by different donors and ensure that stated goals and objectives are met, appropriately monitored and evaluated and that quality narrative and technical reports are submitted in a timely manner.

Overview all the health activities that is been carried out in Bosaso-Puntland.

Conduct weekly and monthly essential drugs consumptions.

Prepare monthly and quarterly donor reports and data analysis routinely and review emerging trends.

Provide program technical support to partners respectively overseeing quality implementation and standard guidelines and protocols are followed.

Provide and maintain detailed records of accurate regular reports, documented output and results and result of the overall health project activities.

Builds and maintains effective relationships with the team, collegues, members and external partners.

Ensure that MCHN programme is implemented according to approved donor agreements and implantation plans.

Duration of contract: 8 months
