Job Description


Real Insurance Tanzania Ltd, a subsidiary of the Britam Group, wishes to recruit a talented, innovative and results oriented individual to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer.


Britam is a leading diversified financial services group, listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. 


The Group has interests across the Eastern and Southern African region and offers a wide range of financial products and services in Insurance, Asset Management, Banking and Property. 


The product range includes life, health and general insurance, pensions, unit trusts, investment planning, wealth management, off-shore investments, retirement planning, discretionary portfolio management, property development and private equity.
 


 


The Opportunity: The successful candidate will be expected to provide effective leadership and direction to the business by ensuring that the desired profitability and market share is achieved in line with the strategy of the Company.


Job Responsibilities:


Formulate and implement the Company’s strategic and annual business plans including budgets to achieve both long-term and short-term objectives.

Give direction and leadership towards the achievement of the Company’s philosophy, mission and strategy to enhance the brand value.

Prudently manage the Company’s resources within budget guidelines to meet set revenue and profitability targets.

Manage day-to-day operations of the Company, develop and ensure comprehensive and appropriate risk mitigation programs and policies are in place.

Ensure compliance with all the regulatory and statutory requirements.

Enhance corporate image and reputation of the Company by ensuring the Company’s mission, vision, values, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong and positive image to relevant stakeholders.

Develop new business initiatives for the Company so as to achieve its annual goals and objectives.

Monitor the market trends in the insurance sector and prepare appropriate interventions for presentation to the corporate office.

Ensure high levels of performance by management and the entire staff and embed the Company’s values.

Participate in the recruitment, coaching and development of the management team and be responsible for the people budget.

Accountable to the Board of Directors for the operations of the Company.

Principal Officer responsible for handling issues pertaining to the regulator.


Experience and Qualifications:


Master’s Degree preferably MBA from a recognized university.

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent from a recognized university.

Professional certification in insurance such as ACII/FLMI.

At least 10 years senior management experience in General Insurance.

Thorough knowledge of insurance industry and concepts.

Customer, market and competitor understanding.

Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements.
