Job Purpose
This position provides financial oversight on the implementing partners (Sub-recipients) activities, through review of the quarterly financial reports, budget control and fund disbursement. The position identifies capacity gaps in Sub-recipient organisation thus advising on areas for capacity building. The position contributes toward the preparation of a timely and accurate consolidated financial report for the donor.
Assistant Grants Accountant Job Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Accountability
Assist in preparation of the consolidated grants financial report in accordance with donor requirements and ensure timeliness and accuracy.
Support in generating Financial analysis on grant financial Information that will provide management with information for decision making.
Updating grants profile in order to monitor project life and grant budgets.
Preparation of cash requests for Sub-recipient Funding requests/ projections and general grant expenditure and follow up with relevant person to ensure the information are accurate and relevant.
Prepare bi-weekly report on Sub-recipient expenditure to the Grants Finance Manager
Budget Management and Control
Ensure spending is within the budget limit to control overspending within the Sub-recipients.
Review Sub-recipient Financial Documents on a quarterly basis to ascertain the level of internal controls and accuracy in the financial process.
Ensure budget control by adequately checking all costs are chargeable to grant.
Policy management and Internal Control
Monitor grant periods and ensure that grant financial requirements/documentation are adequately met and in file in order to meet donor requirements.
Review disbursement requests from Sub-recipients to ensure they are within the policy, adhere to internal control standards and approved budget limits.
Assist in preparation of Quarterly Implementation letters to the Sub-recipients.
Risk Management and Internal Control
Ensure audit of Sub-recipients runs smoothly by providing accurate information in a timely manner.
Ensure audit implementation on a day to day basis during grant implementation.
Ensure Sound internal controls are maintained in by the Sub-recipients.
Contribute towards the effort of creating awareness to Sub-recipients on grants regulations.
Work closely with the Support Office to conduct grant related research both externally and internally to gather best practices in grant management.
Record Keeping
Set and maintain filing system of Sub-recipient reports to facilitate audit processes, and knowledge management as a whole within the department.

Qualifications For Assistant Grants Accountant Jobs In Kenya
Educational level required: Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce
CPA Part 1 will be an added advantage.
I year experience in field of finance and accounting
Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills
