Internship with WWF in Kenya
WWF has an opening through its Youth Volunteer Internship Programme for a 6-month internship supporting the WWF Africa Earth Hour (EH) communications work, based in Nairobi, Kenya (see placement description below). For reasons relating to work permits, only Kenyan nationals may be considered for this assignment.
Location: WWF Regional Office for Africa, Nairobi, Kenya
Age Category: 19-27 years
Main tasks include
Support WWF Africa Earth Hour (EH) management with communications materials presenting WWF’s work across Africa, and specific thematic and programme successes;
Support the achievement of WWF Africa EH communications priorities through development of a calendar for Africa, identifying important platforms and events, as well as successes that can be used to build EH profile on the continent;
Develops links with all WWF communications staff across Africa, and organises regular progress updates;
Assist Africa communicators to develop and strengthen working relations with in-country partners and media to increase the success of the campaigns;
Provide support for the maintenance of the WWF Africa Office website and assist with WWF’s social media presence: Twitter, Facebook, Flickr etc. around EH imperatives.
Required qualifications, skills, competencies
Tertiary level education in Business or Public Management, Communications, Media or related field with experience in a similar position in an international organization/company;
Proven experience in writing for development/conservation; web maintenance and writing; efficient use of social media in southern contexts;
Excellent oral and written communications skills in English, and ideally French;
Interest and ability in video production and/or photography as well as in graphic design;
Computer literacy;
Keen interest and passion for conservation/environmental issues;
Cultural adaptability and sensitivity;
Working knowledge of WWF Network, especially WWF in Africa.
