Homa Hills Community Development Organization is a medium-sized national NGO located in North Rachuonyo district.Its major partners include CRS Kenya, USAID Aphia Plus and MONSANTO research organizations.

HHCDO stives to empower communities living in Karachuonyo in terms of their civic responsibilities, economic independence, food security, environmental conservation, public health and HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support for a just and equitable society.

Its overriding role is to build community capacity to facilitate sustainable development to support vulnerable groups.

Pharmaceutical Technologist (Aids Relief Project)

Purpose: To manage the ARP pharmacy, and coordinate all activities of stock and inventory management pertaining to HIV/AIDS drugs for the AIDS Relief program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure good store keeping for pharmacy drugsPrepare and manage pharmacy inventory in conjunction with the ARP project coordinatorBe part of clinical eligibility committee to set and periodically evaluate annual department goalsDevelop, review, and regularly update the standard operating procedures, manual for administration and distribution of ARVsReview with medical staff and update regularly the hospital drug formulary for the projectGive the ARP clinical team updates of the availability of drugsFollowing appropriate education and participate in counseling of patients taking ARVs in order to promote compliance with prescribed regimenDispense ARVs and OI drugs to patients in the  programPreparation of monthly pharmacy reports to partnersMember of the Continous Quality Improvement TeamMinimum Acceptable qualifications:Diploma in pharmacy from K.M.T.C or equivalent with at least two years experienceComputer skills in windows, Microsoft word, excel, outlook and accessTraining in ART or effective commodity management; or previous experience working in a CCC would be an added advantageApplications (stating current and expected salary) for the above vacancy should be addressed to the undersigned so as to reach him by close of business Wednesday, February 27th 2013 by COB

General Chef / Cooks Job - Urgent

We are a leading eco-lodge based in Chyulu hills seeking to recruit suitable candidates for the above position.

The suitable candidate will be based in Chyulu Hills where the lodge is based and should be willing to work there.

He/she will have to be prepared to live in the bush, with no communication or telephone and very limited social life.

Qualifications

The selected candidates will hold a Diploma in Food Production or related from a recognized institution.

The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years’ experience in a busy 4-5star hotel set up or in a small luxury lodge in the bush.

This is a general call for applications from teachers for the year 2012 school year.

Primary and Nursery schools due to enrollment growth.

Vice Principal, Green Hills Primary: A very competitive salary will be offered to the successful applicant who will be an experienced Primary English Language Arts teacher with an appropriate university degree. Familiarly with Modern teaching methods is a must. The position begins in August 2012. School level administrative experience is a definite asset.

Graduate Student (PhD) Position

Topic: Understanding the variability of carbon stocks in avocado agroecosystems of Taita Hills in comparison to adjacent natural forests and other land-use system/agroecosystem

icipe is an intergovernmental organisation funded by government aid agencies, UN organisations and private foundations to carry out research and training in environmentally sound and sustainable management of arthropods for improved health and agricultural productivity in the tropics.

icipe has approximately 350 staff to support its research and capacity building programmes, located at various sites in Kenya and Ethiopia.

Project Title: Understanding the variability of carbon stocks in avocado agroecosystems of Taita Hills in comparison to adjacent natural forests and other land-use system/agroecosystem

Project objectives

Generate C stock inventory data for home gardens and commercial avocado plantation in comparison with other land-use systems across altitudes in Taita hillsImpact of age of plantation and seasons on C sequestration ratesDetermine if and to what extent avocado contribute to soil C storage in comparison with adjacent natural forest and other land-use system/agroecosystem.Evaluate the stability of the stored soil C in the selected avocado agroforestry systems and in comparison with other land-use systemsModel the changes in C stocks of avocado based agroecosystems in a climate change scenario in Taita HillsQualifications

This doctoral fellowship is expected to run from 2012 to 2014 and is tenable at icipe.

The successful candidate selected out of a competitive process will begin her/his training immediately.

Specific Qualifications

The applicant must have BSc and MSc degrees with a minimum award of upper 2nd class degree or equivalent in Soil Science, Agro ecology with background in Soil Science, Agricultural Chemistry, and Plant Physiologist.

Should be a Kenyan

Maximum age of 36 years for men and 40 for women at the time of application [Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply].

This position is available with our client, Eastern Produce Kenya Ltd., a leading tea producer.

Reporting to the Nairobi based IT Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing IT support, systems maintenance and systems development services in their extensive estates and factories in the Nandi Hills area.

Among the key tasks to be undertaken will be:-

Configuring and supporting software applications;Managing IT security and continuity, including data backups, disaster recovery procedures and updating of anti-virus software.Diagnosing and correcting networking problems;Analysing user requirements, procedures and problems in order to provide effective solutions.Maintaining and servicing all computer hardware and equipment including electronic scales, printers etc.
