There is an exciting opportunity to join The Fred Hollows Foundation's international Programs team and contribute to the growth of an international development organisation that focuses on blindness prevention globally.
Based in Africa (preferably Nairobi) with regular regional and international travel, this position is responsible for the implementation of the Foundation's Human Resources Development (HRD) Strategy in Sub-Saharan Africa. Working closely with a number of key partners this position will coordinate and implement Human resource development initiatives in the region ensuring harmonization of activities to maximise outcomes. We currently deliver programs in Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Eritrea and are establishing our presence in Ethiopia.
We are seeking a motivated individual who has a significant level of experience and education in health workforce planning and managing public health programs in an international development setting, including programs addressing health workforce issues. Exposure and knowledge of eye health programming is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will also have solid work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, the capacity to work effectively in cross-cultural environments and have the partnership capacity to engage and influence senior levels of government, multi-lateral agencies and other relevant stakeholders to build strategic advocacy.
Your experience in full cycle project management, PC literacy, fluency in written and spoken English as well as your tenacity and resilience will all help you to be a success in the role.

Panos Eastern Africa shall build partnership with child protection agencies, the media, the government institutions, the children and other interested actors to illuminate these issues, create platforms for public discourse, influence policy decisions and actions, increase child participation, media action and public child protection in National Agenda of the four countries with a view of addressing challenges and abuses faced by children. Today, and testimony to our quality of service delivery, our founder base has grown to include among others, Danida who have been supporting our Agriculture and Business Sector Programmes. We have entered a five year funding partnership with Danida to upscale and ensure the sustainability of the Business Sector Programme Support (BSPS) programme. It is for this programme that we seek to fill the following positions:
Regional Manager, Coast and Eastern Region
Reporting to the CEO and based in Mombasa, you who will oversee the operations of MESPT in the Counties of Malindi, Machakos, Taita Taveta and the field offices in Kwale and Matuu.
Reporting to the Business Development Services (BDS), Manager, and based in Nairobi, you will be expected to seek and disseminate information on the latest developments in Business Development Services and share it with the other practitioners in Kenya and the Region, using both traditional and more innovative information gathering and dissemination methodologies and technology.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be based in Matuu and will be responsible for the management and delivery of the technical, capacity building and administrative aspects of the programme in Matuu, Kitui and Mwingi areas.
We wish to fill these positions with experienced and dynamic university graduates who not only have the relevant and required years of experience, but who can demonstrate their passion for the development of value chains and making markets work for the poor (M4P). Background
The 2010/2011 drought was the worst experienced in the Horn of Africa since 1950.
The drought in Northern Kenya and refugee influx crisis triggered a scale up of humanitarian action by the UN agencies, INGOs including Save the Children (SC), local NGOs, the private sector, GoK and individuals.
Since Save the Children’s declared emergency response, which started in April 2011 a total of 740,703 people have been directly reached, which exceeds Save the Children targeted beneficiary number of 700,000 beneficiaries.
A requirement of Save the Children International’s Rules & Principles for declared emergencies is that an evaluation of humanitarian action is carried out.
It is also a requirement of the UK Disaster’s Emergencies Committee (DEC) that agencies carry out evaluations for every third appeal.
Save the Children’s current response in East Africa the third appeal for the DEC and it is expected that this evaluation will meet both SC’s internal policies regarding evaluating its emergency response, as well as the DEC’s requirement.
In preparing for the evaluation, SC wishes to contract an experienced consultant/firm to undertake an evaluation of the humanitarian response.
Purpose of the Evaluation The purpose of this evaluation is measure the effects of the post humanitarian emergency intervention in Northern Kenya within the first 7 months, and to draw clear recommendations for longer term programming.
Specifically, the evaluation will:
(i) Measure the extent to which:
(ii) Recommend improvements for longer-term strategies, focusing on programme quality, management, accountability to beneficiaries, and contribute to learning in a wider sense within the agency/ies.

1. PMTCT / Pediatric Advisor
Location: Nairobi/Nyanza
Overall Job function:
The PMTCT/Pediatric Advisor will provide technical support in the planning and implementation of PMTCT activities within ICAP-supported facilities in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
He/she will supervise regional PMTCT Advisors and will report to the Director of Programs.
In addition he/she will be responsible for the planning, coordination and providing overall direction for the Pediatric HIV Care and Treatment programming as well as providing strong leadership to a team of implementers working with the facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
To oversee the planning and implementation of PMTCT in ICAP supported facilities.
To provide on-going technical support and supervision to regional PMTCT officers who will in turn provide technical support to facilities in the implementation of PMTCT activities.
To participate in the PMTCT/Paediatric technical working groups in the Ministry of health, National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP)
To oversee the planning, initiation and implementation of HIV Pediatric Care and Treatment services at ICAP-supported facilities.
To develop a standard package of Paediatric HIV care services and ensure its implementation in ICAP supported facilities
Requirements:
Specialist degree in pediatrics
More at least 5 years experience in the implementation of PMTCT activities
2. Program Officers (2)
Location: Nyanza / Eastern
Overall Job Function:The officer will plan and perform day-to-day implementation of HIV care and TB/HIV treatment services at facilities
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and implementation of HIV care and treatment services and TB/HIV activities at facilities
Provide on-going supervision of HIV care and treatment and TB/HIV programs
Co-ordinate mentorship of facility staff
Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement of HIV and TB/HIV programs
Assist in program monitoring and evaluation
Preparation of budgets, work plans, reports and other technical papers
Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Medicine Experience with HIV programming
Familiarity with district-level health care programs in Kenya
Clinical experience of HIV medicine
