i) Driving a motor vehicle as authorized;
ii) Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure etc;
iii) Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
iv) Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned;
v) Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road;
vi) Ensuring safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and
vii) Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

Financial Controller (Uganda) – Ref - RVR 12/8/1
Reporting to the Head of Accounting and Tax, the Individual will oversee the running of the finance function of the Rift Valley Railways (Uganda).

Key Result Areas:

Develop and maintain up to date internal controls, systems and processes
Lead and supervise a team of accounting and payroll staff
Ensure compliance with corporate taxation, statutory requirements and accounting standards
Produce accurate and timely financial information on the company’s financial status and performance (including financial statements, reports, annual reports & budgets)
Prepare and consolidate operational financial reports on a regular basis

8 years’ experience in a senior management level, finance role in a large organization.
Sound knowledge on statutory compliance regulations and accounting policies and procedures
Analytical, business acumen, organizing and individual leadership skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Working experience with SAP, ERP or other accounting systems will be an added advantage.

Business Process & Control Manager - Ref - RVR 12/8/2
The job holder will be Reporting to the General Manager, Finance Planning & Control, and will be responsible for building an effective internal risk and controls management.

Key Result Areas:
Provide analytical control mechanism and process that balance business risk/controls with operational objectives
Ensure compliance with auditing guidelines and regulations.
Establishing an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program consistent with Corporate Governance requirements.
Design and implement an effective risk management policy
Providing guidance on business process re-engineering
Head the business self-audit assessment process
Coordinate the liaison between the business process owners and finance
Implementing change management assessments for new business developments

Education, Skill competencies, Experience & Motivational requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, and/or Finance; MBA/CPA/CIA/CISA highly preferred
5+ years’ experience in business controls as a Finance Manager (Controllership), Internal Audit Manager or Consultant. Big 4 and /or Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) experience preferred

Background

UNDP Somalia has recently upgraded its Country Office (CO) intranet to the SharePoint 2010 platform and as part of the process also upgraded existing business process automation tools / workflows using InfoPath Forms. These tools are aimed at enhancing the efficiency with which these business processes are carried out by providing a platform where both the service unit and users can easily track the status of the posted requests.

Duties and Responsibilities

Objectives of the assignment: To further automate additional business processes using SharePoint workflows and InfoPath Forms.To enhance look and feel of the overall design of the CO intranet.

Scope of work:

The SharePoint 2010 Workflow tools to be developed are the following;

1.            Individual Contractor Tracking Tool

2.            5% Learning Time Off Request Tool

3.            PPU Reporting Tool

Also to be included in the scope of work are the following;

4.            Enhance Staff Directory to allow for Tracking of Location Status of individual staff members

5.            Enhancement of design of the various intranet pages – This will be done in coordination with the respective user departments and our in-house ICT staff.

Monitoring and Progress controls:

The timelines captured in the proposal for development of each tool will form basis of tracking timeliness of completion of each milestone.

3 User Acceptance Tests (UAT) for each tool will be required to ensure that each tool has met the requirements as envisaged by the user department. The first UAT will be immediately after the tool is developed and the feedback given to the consultant will form the basis for the second UAT. Consequently, the feedback given from the second UAT, the final review of the tool will be to thoroughly test the workflow to ensure that it is performing without giving error messages at any stage and that the reports generated are consistent with the data captured.

Final product/Deliverables:

1.            Individual Contractor Tracking Tool

A functional tool that will be used by the HR unit to track the process of individual contract capturing all the stages from the submission stage done by the hiring unit to the final payment stage. The workflow should have the capability to send out notifications in all stages to the staff involved either for approval or recommendations.

2.            5% Learning Time Off Request Tool

A functional tool that will be used by staff members to apply for the 5% learning time during the year i.e. 12 days in a year. The tool will consist of a workflow capturing all the stages from the initial application stage to the final approval stage with notifications either for recommendations or approvals to the relevant staff. 

3.            PPU Reporting Tool

A functional PPU reporting tool with workflow designed for the programmes to be able to track signed report agreements. The tool should have the set reminder feature to alert the programme managers two months prior to report expiry dates. It should consist of a workflow capturing stages from when the draft report was submitted to the approval stage of the final report. The tool should also send out notifications to the involved staff members.

4.            Enhance Staff Directory to allow for Tracking of Location Status of individual staff members

A functional tool that captures all the details of the employees in the organization. i.e. Name of staff member, title, photo upload, email address, Telephone Number, Mobile Number etc. Also, staff should be able to update their location status to indicate when they are on leave, on mission, etc. The tool should be simple for staff members to enter their details themselves and also allow for search functionality. Authentication of users is via local AD.

5.            Enhancement of design of the various intranet pages – This will be done in coordination with the respective user departments and our in-house ICT staff.

The designs should be done in a user friendly environment preferably HTML that will be easy for the end user to edit if necessary.

N.B: An initial meeting will be held with the stakeholders so as to clearly captured the workflow of each tool, identify points at which notifications need to be sent to both the requestor and the approver, as well as the kind of reports expected for each tool.

As indicated above, we will also come up with a User Acceptance Tests for each of the 3 phases of User Acceptance to ensure that the tools are functioning according to specification.

Review/approval time:

The Approval of the tools will be done individually based on the specified requirements and hence payment will be based on milestones achieved.

Required Skills and Experience

Academic Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer science or any IT related field.

Experience:

7 years of System Development (Computer Programming ) experience with 3 of these specifically in SharePoint 2007/2010 Development services, with implementation of projects in the provision of SharePoint development services.Certification in Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) or (MCSD) Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer.Experience in MYSQL database development, coupled with good knowledge of HTML language, PHP, Dot net and ASP is also desirable.Proven experience with analyzing and documenting complex business processes and workflows and interacting directly with end users.Proven experience with tools and methodologies for requirements gathering and modeling, tracking and project management .Proven experience in creating design documents, specifications and test plans.

Language requirements:

Proficiency in both oral and written English language

This is a non-staff contract under the Individual Contractor (IC) modality of hiring of the UNDP. Job Purpose

The job entails continuous SAP user support and training to ensure optimal use of the system at all times. The job holder applies acquired accounting and IT skills to maintain and enhance the Accounting System performance in order to achieve accurate and timely reports.

Coordinating and facilitating training of users and continuously provide support for FI/CO system usersIdentify areas of improvement on already implemented modules to enhance efficiency and adoption of best practiceProvide parameters to programmers of SAP reports to enable timely preparation of user reportsIdentify and provide appropriate transaction codes that enables creation of access profiles for an approved system usersMake recommendations to management on optimal use of the systemCompile and facilitate documentations on usage of systemIdentify weaknesses in DTI system and develop mitigating controls.Develop appropriate DTI reports to enhance controls over revenue and debtMonitor and improve the SAP & DTI interfaceSkills, knowledge and experience requirement;

About this position

We have and are continuing to develop one of the most sophisticated operational approaches to providing affordable education to MILLIONS of children in one of the most challenging environments in the world! We’re looking for an experienced full-time Quality Assurance Engineer to join our software development team and help create tools that will support the operations for our network of schools.

Our success relies on our “School in a Box”, a sophisticated set of custom developed systems, tools and processes (think McDonalds or Starbucks) that are used by all School Managers, as well as by support teams at Headquarters to audit, monitor and support all of our schools.

While the end-user (School Manager) technology at the school is limited to paper and a mobile phone, all of our systems and processes are underpinned by a sophisticated set of supporting and enabling technologies that allows schools to operate cost effectively and efficiently, with oversight by headquarters.

More specifically:

We are looking for a full time Quality Assurance Process Engineer with responsibilities of:

Partnering closely with Six Sigma Process Engineers to design, update and improve software systems to meet business needsImplementing computer-based, short-term corrective actions until long-term systemic ERP solutions can be engineered and releasedEnsuring the failure modes tracking is updated with new detection, severity and frequency ratings upon completion of failure mode remediationDeveloping and managing efficient QA processes including defect tracking and software release processesWriting end-user FAQs and training end-users to ensure the system is deployed and used as designed Providing first line technical support to in-house users of software developed by our teamYou have BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical fieldYou have a minimum of 3 years experience in quality assurance of enterprise softwareYou have a solid understanding of quality assurance techniques and best practicesYou have strong communication skills and work well as part of a teamYou are well organized and pay attention to detailYou function well in a fast-paced, informal environment where constant change is the norm and the bar for quality is set highExamples of our Software Needs

The following are examples some of the software projects that are currently under development or consideration:

Automated Student Payment Information System - manages billing, automatically updates database with data from banks and mobile payment company, provides tools for operator to correct and assign payments, and uses SMS interface to send coded updates to Schools, and receive interactive SMS queries and remote error correction.Customized integrated financial system - taking customizable financial package and integrating with payment information system, reporting tool, and developing additional tools for automated budget tracking and SMS-based payment requests.Data Management and Dashboard/Reporting Tools for HQ staff to support schools - we must develop tools that collect key performance data and provide dashboards/reports to allow support teams to monitor progress of our schools.Mobile Phone/PDA App - We will be investigating the feasibility and cost of porting of many of our paper-based processes at our schools to a mobile phone or PDA app to streamline school operations.Related Posts Widget for Blogger
