Main Purpose of Job
Provide engineering professional and technical leadership in the Factory, ensuring people health and

Main responsibilities
People: Develop and maintain Engineering competences at the factory (including technical and management competencies, talent review, career and succession planning, etc)
Fixed Asset Planning: Ensure optimum decisions are made/implemented regarding factory assets (including Investment cycle), in alignment with the Market Business Strategy. Manage accordingly the factory's Engineering data
Project Management: Monitor Capital Investments, ensuring justification, request, implementation, start-up, reporting aligned with Guidelines/TPM. Foster Projects' flexible design to allow adjustment to changing Operation requirements
M&I: Enable high performance Operations, by providing assets' Maintenance according to the Nestlé Strategy, using TPM/PM as the multi-disciplined approach to maintain/improve fixed assets, and AMM to manage their life cycle
Industrial Services: Ensure that the utilities' needs of Production are fulfilled and optimised. That all utilities that come/may come in contact with product are treated according to the food safety acceptance criteria
E&A /MES. Ensure that the electrical services, degree of automation and MES at factory site level, are in line with the Business requirements
Energy/Water/SHE Management: Ensure optimum and sustainable Operations at factory level, by following the Energy/Water Management approach, driving the corresponding Reporting System, and respecting SHE policies
Process & Packaging Optimisation: Drive I&R, initiating/coordinating implementation of new processes/technologies with relevant Market, PTC, Corporate and SBU Engineering

Key Experiences: What experience brings success to this job?

Minimum 5 years in a technical field, preferably food manufacturing or consumer goods industry (as Project Engineer or Project Manager, Industrial Services, M&I or E&A/MES Engineer, or equivalent positions)
Participation in a M&I and/or Factory Engineering College(s)
Fixed Assets Maintenance responsibilities, including maintenance budget preparation and control (preferably including exposure to TPM, preventive maintenance planning and/or maintenance execution)
Personnel Supervision (on technical teams, contractors or other 3rd parties)
Preparation of Investment budgets >500kCHF, and acquisition of technical equipment (for Production and/or Industrial Services)
Participation in the development of engineering projects >500kCHF, as part of a multidisciplinary team (preferably including different products and technologies, and both, the mechanical and E&A areas)
Participation in the start-up of technical equipment(s) and/or production line(s) (preferably including industrial services supply)
Participation in multi-disciplinary teams that focuses in process or packing optimization/continuous improvement

Our client, part of a rapidly expanding privately owned group of industries in East Africa, with manufacturing operations in both Kenya and Ethiopia, has the following vacancies and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals.

Previous experience in the steel industry would be advantageous.

Financial Controllers – Kenya

Vacancies exist both for a Group Financial Controller to be based at the company’s head office in Westlands and a Plant Financial Controller to be based at one of the group’s steel plants in Athi River.

The former will be responsible for consolidation of financial reports for the group, financial analysis, business planning and fiscal compliance.

The latter will be responsible for financial controls and reporting at the factory.

Applicants for both positions should be graduates with professional accountancy qualifications.

They should have had a minimum of ten years experience in equivalent roles, should be fully computer literate and should possess good interpersonal and communications skills.

Factory HR Managers – Kenya and Ethiopia

Vacancies exist for Plant HR Managers for two of the group’s steel plants, one at Athi River and the other in Ethiopia.

Reporting to the respective Plant Managers and each leading a small team, the persons appointed will have responsibility for the full range of HR activities at factory level, including recruitment, payroll administration, appraisal and disciplinary processes, health and safety, security and staff welfare.

Applicants should be graduates in Human Resources or a related discipline and should already have had a minimum of five years experience in a generalist role in a challenging factory environment.

They should have the strength of character and communications skills to operate cross-functionally and at all levels in the organization.

Internal Auditor – Ethiopia

Based at the Group’s Ethiopian head office in Addis Ababa, a vacancy exists for an Internal Auditor to develop appropriate checks and balances for all the Group’s entities in Ethiopia as well as for investigating, reporting on and remedying any irregularities.

The person appointed will also collect and monitor data for balanced scorecards used in the Group’s performance management process. Applicants should be graduates holding professional qualifications and should have had a minimum of five years experience in a recognized international auditing firm.

Job Profile: Reporting to the General Manager - Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous development and improvement of agricultural farm technologies and methods in the Region to attain set production objectives and goals, and also ensuring continues development and improvement of forest conservation as per the plans and strategies of each zone under his/her charge and those of the Corporation.
