Our client, a diversified Group of companies, engaged in automotive dealerships, express transport, logistics and building materials distribution is looking for an Account Manager. The successful candidate MUST have relevant international experience in multinational company. He/she must be a qualified Chartered Accountant preferably from any of the following professional bodies; SAICA, ICAEW ICAA & CICA.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual financial statements and management reports as required by management.Training of accounts team, resolving conceptual issues involved in the business related work.Design, implement and maintain system of internal controls for prevention, detection and corrections of material errors and frauds.Negotiation and arranging short and long term financing from banks and related products.Preparation of annual budgets with supporting workings and schedules in coordination with sales, operations and accounts department.Ensuring reconciliations of related parties, bank balances, physical cash, receivables, payables, physical assets and inventory balances at each month end.Review and signing of major customers invoices, supporting data, adjustments and reconciliations.Ensuring accurate calculations, deductions and deposit of taxes within due dates as per local tax laws.Reconciling accounting profits with tax profits on filing of annual tax returns.Ensuring compliance with covenants and agreements with parties.Preparation of SOP for accounts and operations as per the company policies and instructions.Ensuring completeness of electronic and hard copy data, data security and its archival at the closing of each year.Must have a bachelor’s degree in Commerce or equivalent.Must he a qualified Chartered Accountant preferably from any of the following institutes; SAICA, ICAEW ICAA & CICA.Must have 10 years working experience.Must have at least 3 years working as head of accounts / finance with large organization having multiple companies.Must have completed article-ships from big 4 audit firm.Strong understanding and grip on implementation of IFRS.Strong analytical & administrative competence.Willingness to travel within East Africa region.Proficient in MS office.Career Level: Senior Level ( 3+ years experience)

Roles and Responsibilities

Two years' working experience, A degree in a numerical course or related field.

Project Accounting Manager

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a Project Accounting Manager to support the core accounting and general ledger functions of a multi-country project focused on agricultural research-for-development in Africa. This position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and will report directly to the Regional Finance Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Regional Accounting Manager, Africa

The Need

International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking a talented accounting manager to provide accounting oversight of field offices in Africa by developing and training staff, ensuring appropriate internal controls of the field offices in Africa and liaising closely with the United States (US) headquarters.

We are looking for someone passionate for this mission and passionate about using their financial skills and experience to ensure stewardship and accountability.

This position is a key member of a global team of high caliber professional finance staff. This position can be based in any of IJM’s Africa field offices (Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda or Zambia) and reports to the International Finance Officer who is based at IJM headquarters in the US.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop accounting staff

Assist in recruiting field office finance staff including reviewing CV’s, interviewing and providing input as to the final decision;
Provide input on job descriptions;
Train and provide orientation to new field office finance staff;
Provide ongoing technical and management leadership and mentoring to field office accountants through weekly phone calls and office visits; and
Assist field office accountants in creating and monitoring a development plan in collaboration with Field Office Directors.Provide training to field office accountants and other staff on needed areas including policies & procedures, stewardship, grant compliance, QuickBooks, audit compliance, etc.
Training will be provided both on-site and virtually.Visit each field office at least twice per year and perform accounting reviews of internal controls, finance roles and responsibilities, reviewing transactions for compliance, testing petty cash and assessing field office accounting staff;
Perform formal review of field office monthly reports as part of global review rotation (coordinated with HQ) and prepare monthly report cards based on results of review for submission to regional, field office and finance leadership;
Review QuickBooks transactions weekly;
Coordinate and provide oversight to process for external audits of field offices required as part of country registration and as part of organizational annual audit; and
Provide assistance in fraud investigations and participate in overall strategy to avoid fraud.Provide technical support through regular email, chat and phone interaction with field office on specific areas including accounting, policies & procedures, QuickBooks and grant compliance;Act as backup for field office accounting staff during extended absences or vacancies;
Assist Field Office Directors in registration and compliance with tax requirements for country; and
Assist in establishing new field offices including setting up QuickBooks, bank accounts, internal controls and hiring and training staff.Act as liaison between HQ and field offices regarding key finance areas including policy & procedure development, training material & strategy development, compliance/risk management, staff development, registration & taxes and banking;
Provide input on key strategies to continue growth and expansion of organization including development of a global financial system, audit/monitoring strategy and improving monthly close;
Participate in weekly phone calls with International Finance Officer; and
Participate in periodic regional and global meetings.Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent;CPA or equivalent preferred;
A minimum of four years accounting experience preferably for an NGO.
Accounting experience should include hands on accounting as well as financial analysis, budget preparation and compliance;
Thorough understanding of GAAP, such as debits and credits, cash versus accrual accounting and financial statement preparation;
Experience with accounting software preferably QuickBooks;
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (or equivalent);
Experience handling registration and tax requirements in Africa;
Exceptional ability in written and spoken English; and
Experience leading and training staff in cross-cultural settings.Mature orthodox Christian faith as defined by the Apostles’ Creed;
Highest level of integrity and honestly;

Review and check all invoice batches before confirming and updating the same in MFG
Maintain a log of all disputed invoices and report monthly on action taken to resolve them
Manage payment to inter-company and overseas supplier and generate a forecast of FX payments on a weekly basis for the purposes of managing the Forex exposure.
Spearhead automation of payment processes.
Manage local supplier payments by among other things ensuring payments are done as per agreed terms, supplier relations are maintained and improved
Manage the performance of direct reports including setting individual KPIS, tracking and measuring the performance of staff against the Key Performance Indicators on a quarterly basis.
Developing the accounts payable team through on the job coaching and evaluating the training needs/proposing action to address the needs.
Accounting Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceBachelors’ degree in Commerce, preferably Accounting/Finance option
CPA (Kenya) or finalist
Knowledge of various legal requirements regarding Kenyan Government Taxes
Knowledge of the Accounting cycle particularly Accounts payable cycle and General ledger
Working Knowledge of fully integrated ERP systems
3 to 5 years in a busy Accounts Payable environment

The main function of the accountant job  is to apply accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are adhered to.

Key Accounting Responsibilities:

Review and certify, requisitions, quotations, purchases orders, petty cash returns, imprest returns, cashbook analysis, payment vouchers, all donor reports in line with donor guidelines, in order to produce timely reports for approval by the Finance Manager.
Compile and analyze financial information for preparation of monthly/annual financial statements.
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted standard/organization policies and procedures.
Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
Reconcile accounting discrepancies and irregularities
Continuously manage and support budgetary and forecast of activities
Monitor and support taxation issues and ensure that they are appropriately paid
Develop and maintain all donor records
Prepare and coordinate the end year financial audit process
Ensure that, fixed asset register is properly updated on monthly basis
Manage the payroll accurately
Review all returns/imprest from the field and ensure it is in line with approved budgets
Preparing Financial Statements and other reports, summarizing current and projected financial position ensuring availability of funds to meet obligations.
Ensuring that, proper authorization of all payments is strictly followed and supported.
Ensuring proper preparation of payment vouchers, cheque books and cash book records as well as financial statements and entries to monthly accounts in accordance with accounting regulations.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts held by the organization
Support Finance Manager in implementation and review of systems of financial controls
In the absence of the Financial Manager, undertake day to day responsibilities for managing finance with the support of the Chief Executive Officer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities For Accountant Job:

Ideal candidate will have the following skills;-

Proficiency in computerised accounting
Knowledge and experience using QuickBooks a MUST
Experience managing multiple grants
Familiarity with EU/USAID grant accounting

Academic Qualifications and Competence:

A Bachelor of Commerce degree, Accounting/finance option, plus CPAII
Minimum 2 years work experience in a non-profit environment

Position Title: Planning Database Coordinator & Strategic Vendor Accounting
Reports to: Director, Network Planning & Strategic Design
Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya

Basic Purpose:
Our client’s network expansion planning processes are data intensive. The role will therefore be responsible for managing technical and capital data related to expansion planning within all of the Company’s operations. The role shall also coordinate the plan approval process and ensure that the various stakeholders within the process have provided inputs as required. The role shall also engage with the Company’s operations and strategic vendors on a regular basis for reconciliation of data related to network deployment vs contracted agreements.
Main Responsibilities and Duties

The candidate will be responsible for:

1. Planning validation process:
Coordinate the planning process by collecting data from the the Company’s operations and ensuring that the plans are validated by the relevant functional experts at the head office. The role shall be expected to optimise and streamline any processes already in place.

The plan validation process is data intensive and the role is required to identify and arrange for the collection of the required data inputs from the the Company’s operations, to setup and maintain appropriate repositories for the data, and to do data mining to provide management reports as well as detailed technical / capital expenditure reports for the business as and when required.

2. Strategic vendor accounting:
The Company has vendor supply contracts with strategic vendors that require regular reconciliation of contract commitments vs actual deployments. The role shall be responsible for data collection, reconciliation, and vendor sign-off of deployed vs contracted supply items.

Education, Skills & Knowledge:

The ideal candidate will:
* Have a strong background in data management
* Be an expert in Database management and an expert user of Microsoft Excel.
* Have the ability to setup and administer databases, automate processes that involve collection and manipulation of data, and generation of standard reports.
* Have a high level or deep knowledge of GSM network systems
* Experience GSM network planning shall be an added benefit.
* Be detail oriented
* Have strong interpersonal skills
* Be a pro-active, team player
* Be non-confrontational and have multicultural sensitivity.
* Be a good communicator
* Be resourceful and good at multi-tasking.
* Be in possession of a degree in Electronics / Telecom / Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from reputable institution.
