Terms of Reference for an Intern in Planning and Coordination
Introduction: In line with the UN Women Regional Architecture, the Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa in Nairobi provides support services to the countries and has direct oversight of the country offices. In Eastern and Southern Africa, UNWOMEN has country offices in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa (Multi Country Office), South Sudan, Sudan Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.HQ frequently asks the representatives of the various Country Offices and the Regional Director for briefing notes for high-level meetings e.g. involving the ED/DED and senior Government officials including Presidents.
Sometimes the requests come at very short notice when we are all busy with other priorities and in some cases this has compromised the quality of the briefing notes that have been sent to HQ.
In order to effectively respond to requests for briefing notes by HQ, the regional office is trying to put in place a system to reduce the burden of preparing briefing notes. We would like to have all the background information ready and updated on monthly basis. Ideally, this means that the Country Offices/Regional Office will only have to do talking points whenever we get a request for briefing notes since all the background information would be ready.Under the overall supervision of the Strategic Planning and Coordination Specialist, the intern will have the following specific responsibilities;

Market Complexity: Ensuring coordination of seamless production planning and efficient logistics to ensure customer/consumer satisfaction and market penetration using one central depot and servicing new export markets in Sudan and Ethiopia.
Leadership Responsibilities: This position is the team leader for the materials planning unit. The position has direct reports from the Material Planners, Raw Materials Planner (Kenya), (Packaging Materials Planner (Kenya).
Purpose of Role: To develop raw material and components’ plans which ensure OTIF availability to production while maintaining agreed inventory levels.
Top 3-5 Accountabilities:
• Preparation of materials requirements plans for brewing and packaging, on Stratplan, Tactical and Operational bases for EABL Breweries & Distilleries.
• Liaison with Brewing, Packaging and Spirits production managers as well as Marketing and Technical departments to incorporate their initiatives in the materials sourcing plans.

Qualifications:

Experience:
• 5 years hands-on experience in production operations, 2 of which must have been spent in materials requirements scheduling, preferably in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
