The scholarship will cater for tuition, travel, accommodation, and any other incidental expenses.

The Position

Reporting to the Head, Compliance & Ethics, the position will be responsible for compliance oversight on development of policies, and will ensure their maintenance and availability to align the Group activities to Regulatory and industry standards by assessing emerging compliance issues and providing policy planning and organization to ensure policies are adequate, up-to-date and have adequate mechanisms for managing review, implementation and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Risk Division and Senior Management in reviewing and maintaining up to date and adequate policy framework that is responsive to the regulatory and internal compliance policy universe and strategic objectives.
Maintain liaison externally and internally to keep aware of emerging issues and emerging trends to work with respective areas and provide expert advice and guidance on national, regional and corporate policy initiatives.
Support liaison with external regulatory agencies, and maintain tracking and reporting on action on emergent or reported issues.
Support the recognition, assessment and communication of important policy issues to stakeholders.
Analyze rigour and incident reports to identify and report on key themes requiring internal policy action, and report recommendations for adoption.Be responsible to provide first line assessment and assurance of the availability of adequate administrative and organizational tasks & structures to support the effective application of policies.
Provide periodic assessment of the up to date status of policies, and maintain policy tracking and monitoring to ensure policies are up to date.
Work with Bank units to guide policy development through the policy development lifecycle to obtain relevant buy-in and Board or Senior Management approval.
Maintain the Group policy catalogue and version control system to ensure easy availability of tracked policies, and work with the Rigour Section to support policy implementation.
Provide policy liaison at peer levels across specialist and risk functions. (Legal, Audit, Risk, HR, Finance, including Forensic investigations and Insurance)An Arts first degree from a recognized university.
An MBA degree will be an added advantage.
At least one risk-relevant professional qualification, IRM, PRMIA, will be an added advantage.
5 years of wide ranging bank experience - 3 years management experience, in either operations, or compliance/audit related activities, with demonstrated understanding of the regulatory environment including CBK Prudential Guidelines.
Good knowledge of money laundering issues and KYC requirements.
A good know-how of bank-wide business functions, administration and supervisory skills.
Good management skills including organizational, presentation & communication, writing and problem solving skills.

Management Positions in the Energy Sector

Our client, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is a State Corporation established under the Energy Act 2006 that became operational on 7 July 2007.

The Commission is the sector regulatory agency responsible for economic and technical regulation of Electric Power, Renewable Energy and Downstream Petroleum sub-sectors. This includes tariff setting and review, licensing, enforcement, dispute settlement and approval of power purchase and network service contracts.

The Commission is seeking to recruit three (3) progressive individuals who are team and results oriented to fill the following challenging positions:

Assistant Manager, Licensing and Compliance

Reporting to the Director, Renewable Energy, the position holder will ensure licensing and compliance with set standards in the Renewable Energy sub sector country wide.

Key Responsibilities

* Work with others to ensure that demand side management and Energy Efficiency are made an integral part of the RE sub-sector strategies;
* Develop and review codes of practice, standards and other regulatory instruments for the RE sub-sector;
* Assist in processing applications for licences for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency activities;
* Ensure compliance with regulatory instruments and; environmental, health and safety requirements through routine inspections;
* Contribute to the development of renewable energy plans/strategies and research work.

Qualification, Experience & Skills

* A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or physical sciences;
* Good knowledge of the renewable energy sub sector;
* Sound analytical, communication and report writing skills; and
* At least five (5) years relevant experience.

Technical Officer, Renewable Energy

Reporting to the Director, Renewable Energy, the position holder will assist in enforcing regulations and standards in the renewable energy sub sector.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist in formulation of regulations on renewable energy;
* Assist in research on renewable energy resources, technology and its application in the sub sector;
* Contribute to the development of renewable energy plans/strategies and research on renewable energy;
* process licence applications for energy auditors and monitor performance
* Prepare timely and accurate reports;

Qualification, Experience & Skills

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences from a recognized university;
* Not less than three (3) years relevant experience;
* Good understanding of the renewable energy sub sector;
* Good analytical and report writing skills.

Officer, Legal Affairs

Reporting to the Commission Secretary, the position holder will be responsible for advising the Commission on legal matters; ensuring safe custody of legal records and carrying out research on legal matters related to the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare contracts and leases as may be required;
* Provide legal advice to internal users;
* Draft and vet legal documents and prepare legal opinions on issues touching on ERC operations;
* Review and advise on due diligence reports, consultancy reports and other reports from legal consultants;
* Assist in preparing background papers, working documents and reports on local and international law;
* Assist in the handling of disputes between parties under the Energy Act 2006;
* Maintain an up to date record of gazetted matters which relate to the Commission.

Qualification, Experience & Skills

* Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university;
* Post-graduate Diploma in Law;
* Advocate of the High Court and must possess a current Practicing certificate;
* Not less than three (3) years relevant working experience;
* Understanding of the legal issues relating to the energy sector;
* Good analytical and communication skills.

He / she will report to the Global Regulatory Manager and will be based in Kenya.

The Regulatory Specialist is expected to:

* Define requirements to efficiently generate data packages for product chemistry, toxicology, environmental and product performance data necessary to receive approvals in a timely manner and meet sales objectives
* Keeping up to date with the company’s product range
* Record / registration document preparation for all authorities
* Maintain registration / renewal licenses by company, distributors, or agents in target countries
* Develop product and packaging labels in regional language specifications to ensure compliance; obtain approvals for these labels
* Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) translations to local languages for all products
* Responsible to ensure trademarks are registered in specified countries
* Interface with authorities through direct meetings and communications

* Know, interpret, and influence regulatory guidelines within region
* Maintain knowledge of permits and licenses necessary for import and export of products from countries in the region
* Communicate the impact of technical and regulatory issues on existing and potential market opportunities
* Outline complex regulatory options and make appropriate recommendations for action
* Work closely with the project managers, product teams within the various business units and Global Regulatory Manager to support projects to expand uses of current products

This position will suit qualified degree holders in B.S / M.S and at least 3-5 years experience in Agrochemicals / Pesticide registration in Kenya and Sub Saharan Africa region.

Essential skills include: extensive knowledge in developing protocols and analyzing data reports for registration requirements; capable of representing the interests of the company effectively to a range of regulatory agencies and government officials; have knowledge of registration requirements of target region; possess additional language skills.

* Contribute to annual budget for regional regulatory activities
* Know, interpret, and influence regulatory guidelines within region
* Maintain knowledge of permits and licenses necessary for import and export of products from countries in the region

Qualifications
* Attained a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or related qualification; Masters will be an added advantage
* At least 3-5 years in regulatory experience
* Have demonstrated ability to produce timely results that are of high quality and accuracy
* Have strong analytical skills, inquiring and problem solving mindset
* Have strong communication skills and able to work closely with people in wide variety of disciplines at different levels within the organization
* Capable of representing the interests of the company effectively to a range of regulatory agencies and government officials
* A self-starter, systematic, hands-on and thorough with a goal oriented mindset
* Have knowledge of registration requirements of target region
* Have proven track record in obtaining and maintaining pesticide and (or) pharma product registrations
* Trained and experienced with use of computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Notes, and Adobe
* Knowledge in developing protocols and analyzing data reports for registration requirements
* Have experience of compiling accurate and complete preparation of registration dossiers
* Have experience in data management and record keeping techniques
* Possess additional language skills (advantageous)

Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management
Ref. No: 233/DX/FS

Responsible directly to the Board Audit and Corporate Governance Committee and indirectly to the Chief Executive for developing and implementing a comprehensive loss and waste prevention programme through independent, systematic and objective audit reviews as well as programmatic evaluations of business policies, systems, processes and practices.

Continuously reviews the effectiveness of internal controls and degree of compliance as well as identifying organizational risk factors in the management of the Authority.

Prepares audit reports and also makes recommendations to help improve the quality of service delivery systems as well as promoting good corporate governance practices.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, implement and evaluate internal control framework as well as managing and profiling organizational risk factors;Evaluate the adequacy of internal controls by conducting protective and constructive audits of all functionsMonitor and review procurement practices and other procedures including staff recruitment and selection process to ensure compliance with approved guidelines;Assess and evaluate all the Authority's plans, projects, contracts and services to protect the Authority from risk.

The Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) is a non-commercial State Corporation established under the Water Act 2002.

It is mandated to oversee the implementation of policies and strategies relating to provision of water and sewerage services.

WASREB sets rules and enforces standards that guide the sector towards ensuring that consumers are protected and have access to efficient, adequate, affordable and sustainable services.

The Water Services Regulatory Board intends to carry out a financial analysis of selected Water Services Providers in order to benchmark the utilities according to financial performance and to determine their creditworthiness among other objectives.

WASREB in conjunction with Water and Sanitation Program-Africa (WSP-AF) is seeking to hire six financial analysts on short-term contracts to gather and analyse data from the selected companies.

The financial analysts will be responsible for obtaining accurate, relevant and reliable data from the selected water providers, and carrying out detailed analysis.

Qualifications:

* A Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or CPA 3
* At least 2 years experience in finance or accounting in Kenya
* Willingness to travel to different parts of the country
* Knowledge and experience of the water sector will be an added advantage
