ICAP of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and the Ministry of Medical Services to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services at provincial and district health facilities. This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Applications are invited for the following positions:

Senior Program Officer

Location: Machakos with travel to ICAP sites in Eastern South

Based in Nairobi Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been present in Somalia since early 2004 and has since expanded its Horn of Africa Programme to Kenya in 2006 and to Ethiopia in 2011. Since 2004, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has demonstrated a regional competence and expertise in working with displaced populations.
NRC has mainly focused on Somalis who are displaced by the ongoing conflict and more recently by the drought and famine.The Regional Office is based in Nairobi, Kenya with offices and operations in Somalia (Puntland, Somaliland and Mogadishu), Kenya (Dadaab, Kakuma and Molo), Ethiopia (Addis Ababa, Dolo Ado, Shire and Asosa) and Yemen (Sa’naa).

Role Overview:    

Our organization has an ambitious strategy to double income from statutory donors over the next five years.The International Partnership Development team within the organization’s International will play a key role in supporting organization’s members/country programmes to plan for and fundraise from statutory donors and to manage contracts when won. The Regional Coordinator posts will work with members to enhance their knowledge and capacity around statutory income and ensure that member need in this respect is communicated as appropriate throughout the organization’s federation.   

Each Regional Coordinator will work with a selected number of members to enable in depth understanding and relationship building. 

Each regional coordinator will also specialize in procedures, rules and regulations around one major donor and will provide support throughout the organization on issues around this donor.

AMREF is seeking to fill the following position for the APHIAplus Northern Arid Lands Project funded by USAID.

The project supports integrated service delivery and addresses the social determinants of health.

The programmatic intervention areas for the project focus primarily on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Family Planning/Reproductive Health, MNCH, Nutrition, WASH, and a number of interventions related to the social determinants of health (household economic strengthening for specific target groups).

The positions reports to the Regional Team Leader and the incumbents will be based in Turkana, Samburu, Isiolo, Marsabit, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, and Tana River respectively.

Purpose of the Job:To provide technical expertise and support project activities and implementation of the project strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Liaison between the project and district/county health teams.Co-ordinate and participate in planning and implementation of project activities with regularly reviewed detailed work plan.Develop/adopt relevant materials to support field activities.Plan, implement and maintain records of field activities.Assist in monitoring and evaluation of project activities and report on impact.Manage activity budgets including processing relevant financial transactions.Liaise with relevant partners, stakeholders and collaborators at activity level.Participate in operations research within the project.Participate in concept development and writing of new concepts and proposals for fundraising.Participate in capacity building activities, field visits and meetings with relevant partners and stakeholders to strengthen networks and partnerships.Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating to the project; assist in preparation of annual work plans and progress reports as per donor requirements.Qualifications and Competencies:

Experience in HIV/AIDS and/or MNCH will be an added advantage

The Position

ActionAid has an ambitious strategy to double income from statutory/institutional donors over the next five years. The International Partnership Development team within AA International will play a key role in supporting AA members/country programmes to plan for and fundraise from statutory donors and to manage contracts when won.

The IPD Coordinator posts will work with members to enhance their knowledge and capacity around statutory income and ensure that member need in this respect is communicated as appropriate throughout the AA federation.

Each Coordinator will work with a selected number of members in Africa (and possibly Latin America) to enable in depth understanding and relationship building.

Each coordinator will also specialize in procedures, rules and regulations around one major donor and will provide support throughout ActionAid on issues around this donor.

Qualification & Experience

The successful candidate should have a proven track record in fundraising from institutional donors and in managing the contractual and compliance issues involved with institutional donors.

Candidates with a knowledge of EC, UN agencies or potentially USAID are particularly welcomed.

Candidates must also be able to show experience of training and knowledge transfer.

A key part of the role will be mentoring and training colleagues to access and manage institutional funding.

A function of the post is to ensure that African contexts are fully understood and incorporated into IPD’s planning and operations.

Candidates must therefore have a good understanding of the African politics, development issues and the institutional donors operating in Africa.

Excellent English and financial skills are required for this role.

At a personal level, you must have a strong commitment to a human rights based approach to development, champion women’s rights and value working with diverse cultures and the poor and marginalised groups.

Your ability and willingness to travel internationally and work flexibly in virtual settings will be required. The post is managed from a distance. The ideal candidate must be holders of a Bachelors degree, below 35yrs with excellent communications skills, social & interactive, well presentable, outgoing, a good team leader and able to work within targets.

County Representatives

The ideal person will primarily coordinate, market, create awareness and enhance the link between the organization and its stakeholders at the county level.

Those applicants who are currently holders of any leadership position or role in any religious group, church, mosque dealing with youth matters will have an added advantage.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work at the county level without supervision, capable of establishing networks at the grass root level, a team player, able to work within deadlines, a self starter with good communication skills. (Salary Kshs. 40,000/= per month).

District Coordinators

The ideal candidate will create awareness and market the programme activities at the grass root level, must be willing to work at the grass root level, social and interactive and able to work with targets. (Salary Kshs. 18,000/= per month). Applicant must state the District.
